  1. I think the thread “Will a Single Game Be Played” had everything to do with Covid and football combined. It’s already affected many teams’ schedules and games. It’s the nature of the beast for any thread to veer off topic, sometimes quickly. We’ve beat this horse to death, myself included. I’m just glad some games got played Week 1 & more will get played Week 2. Let’s hope the coaches & kids stay healthy and Covid ramps down. We all want as normal as possible but none of us want what Abingdon is having to deal with right now.
  2. That’s all any of us can hope for or want with any match up, a close competitive game. Blowouts are never as fun to watch as a nail biter! Hope it comes down to the wire! Good luck to both teams!
  3. I think Fort Chiswell comes out on top. GW doesn’t seem up to their normal level compared to other seasons. Of course, the season is just starting and I could be wrong.
  4. I hate to hear that. I hope you get to feeling better. I think that’s the only way some unvaccinated will get vaccinated is by getting sick or knowing someone who gets it bad. I was vaccinated back in January/February and will likely get the booster if recommended. I’ve been exposed several times myself. My most recent test was negative. This whole trying to talk down to people who have valid points helps no one as vilifying unvaccinated people helps no one.
  5. Typing very slowing… I never said the vaccinated were clogging up hospitals. If you would read to understand rather than merely condemn others , we might actually have points we agree on. 1. Vaccinated can spread Covid 2. If someone isn’t vaccinated, they probably aren’t going to get the vaccine (maybe if an unvaccinated family member gets really sick, they might) but otherwise, their mind is made up. 3. More effective treatments are needed. 4. Everyone should build up their own natural immune system with vitamin supplements, healthy diet, & exercise. 5. Vilifying those who are unvaccinated is not productive.
  6. If giving credence to Dr. Walensky from the CDC when she says vaccinated people can transmit Covid to others means I need a tinfoil hat; then I guess I’ll go purchase a roll of Reynold’s Wrap. 🙄
  7. Actually, I know many vaccinated people who have contracted Covid recently and passed it on to other vaccinated and unvaccinated family members and friends. I don’t know maybe they just post that on social media and request prayer to get attention. From your comment, you believe vaccinated people cannot spread the virus. That is unfortunately not true. Vaccinated people can get it, can have or not have symptoms, and spread it. That is a FACT not misinformation. I presume you’re lucky enough not to know any vaccinated people who have gotten Covid; therefore, you discount anyone who doesn’t think the same as you. My main point was maybe our focus should shift to finding more effective treatments because those who haven’t been vaccinated by now probably won’t be.
  8. He did get booed. Those that aren’t vaccinated at this point are probably never going to be. The focus needs to shift to more effective treatments in my opinion. It’s disingenuous to lay blame solely at unvaccinated when the vaccinated are getting it and likely giving it to them. Everyone deserves medical treatment regardless of vaccination status. Trying to vilify the unvaccinated doesn’t help but further divides. We need more effective treatments options and be proactive by building our natural immune systems.
  9. Teams have to prove themselves on the field; after Week 1, Graham has unfortunately proved nothing. Maybe this week, they can start to prove they have the goods! Hopefully, the season progresses and all teams improve and which ever one faces Appo can come away victorious for Region D. I’d prefer that be the GMen 😂😂😂😂. They’ve got some things to work out to be able to beat teams like Union but your witty sarcasm is noted, lol!
  10. Virginia High seems much improved under the current coaching staff. I think they win possibly by a lot.
  11. Tazewell didn’t have to quarantine in the spring when Graham was shutdown. We had just played them but then again, it was a JV player that caused all that mess so he wasn’t really in contact with Tazewell team at the game.
  12. Yeah, I wasn’t sure why Graham had to shutdown completely when others weren’t. That’s part of the inconsistency. Hopefully, they will all get on the same page and kids will get to play as much as possible. School board is in a no win situation in every circumstance Covid related or not. You’ll never please everyone but certainly don’t add to the ammunition with inconsistencies.
  13. I just hope the game gets played. All this Covid ramping up in Tazewell County & surrounding areas makes me wonder. Another county had a JV and player test positive but didn’t quarantine the entire team (per parent of kid exposed). I wish Tazewell County wouldn’t overkill on the quarantining (quarantining vaccinated kids & adults) It makes no sense to cancel all practices but yet expect the athletes who aren’t quarantined in school for class indoors during shutdown of athletics but can’t practice outdoors. Hopefully, Covid spike takes a downturn and more common sense takes place.
  14. I heard Richlands has been shutdown due to Covid, can anyone verify this?
  15. Graham coming off another quarantine with little practice. Brown out for a few weeks but I think others are back that were injured. Can Tazewell pull out the win? Does Graham walk away with it?
  16. Union will be tough to beat but I agree, Richlands looks better than in the spring & Coach Tarter seems to be doing a great job at the helm. Best of luck!
  17. Enough of one that it prompted Chris Stacy to issue a statement correcting the information. How many calls do you think they’ve answered since last night’s broadcast?
  18. 🙌🏻 Good luck getting that question answered.
  19. At that rate, Graham High School should reach herd immunity by the weekend. Once again, I only play a doctor on a sports forum 😂.
  20. Which seems ridiculous to me but I only play a doctor on a sports forum 😂
  21. I’m only referring to one particular school. Others may not be making vaccinated kids quarantine.
  22. I would think the same. I think they’re even making vaccinated kids quarantine.
  23. I get better safe than sorry but Graham seems to overkill quarantine according to current CDC guidelines. They’re wearing masks all day. Is it even face to face contact for more than 15 minutes. I don’t think sitting near someone when both people are masked really constitutes mass quarantine but I’m no expert. If it’s that bad, why isn’t school shutdown at this point? What are the guidelines for Tazewell County? Are they being applied consistently at all schools? Of course, us keyboard warriors aren’t privy to all the details as far as positive tests, etc. I do believe it feels as though since this started last March, we kind of made it up as we go.
