  1. As far as three best in 2D, Graham , Union are a given I think …I’m not sure who would be #3 , maybe Tazewell or Gate City. I don’t know how much talent either of those are losing. Our neighbors in 2C, without Clark I’m not sure how well Radford does. I can’t see them winning the region and I know they are losing several Seniors. I think Appo is better next year, they had a lot of youth. I don’t know enough to comment on any other teams that way. I think Bluefield is Bluefield and Princeton has another banner season. I’m normally wrong more than right so all of this may be totally off base.
  2. I agree with this. I really am glad FC has a coach taking them in the right direction. That program has been through it the past few years with coaching instability and ineptness. They’ve got some talented kids. Their kicker looks to be really good. Good kickers seem to be in shortage these days. If Richlands gets the right person in the position, they may have a much improved season. They can only go up from this past season. I heard a couple of kids that went to a Honaker may be returning. That may or may not be so…you know how the “I heard” goes.
  3. Wait what? Tony Palmer stealing signals & Jeff Tarter filming your practice. Dang! 😂😂
  4. This! How hard would it be to designate one of the ADs or someone to release the entire list to the public? It’s not rocket science!
  5. Does anyone have a complete list?
  6. Creasy is deserving of every bit of praise & accolades. I’d would never argue otherwise. Kid is tough as they come. There were players named last year & others not where I thought they should be and same this year but I don’t get a vote. Every year, any of us could point to a player we think got slighted. In the grand scheme of things. these awards have no bearing on the success a kid has once they leave high school. I guess the old adage, to the victor goes the spoils. I sure the bargaining and deal making goes on in every district & region. It’s the nature of the beast. Good luck Saturday, hope Galax can bring back the championship to our part of the state.
  7. I wasn’t there but was only giving a fact that could have played into the vote obviously you’re more privy to insider information than myself.
  8. My thoughts & may be completely off base but traditionally POY in most districts not just SWD goes to a player from the team that wins the district. Creasy is a phenomenal talent obviously and a good kid. Tazewell wouldn’t have been as successful these past three years without him. On the flip side, in the SWD title game between Graham & Tazewell he threw three interceptions before 1st half was over, not sure if he was sacked or how many times. In the Before Regional awards get posted, in Union game, he threw two key interceptions had they been caught be a Tazewell receiver could have changed that game completely. Like I said, I’m not taking anything away from him, he’s very talented & a good kid. Edwards stepped up in Clement’s’ absence and had many key moments that helped GMen go 9-1. Maybe the combination of those things played into the selection.
  9. No clue & even if Clements needed a breather, Floyd or Jennings were available.
  10. Graham held Radford to less rushing yardage, passing yardage, and less points than any other opponent if I’m not mistaken. The “whatifs” are never fun to dwell on but we have to remember those are kids on the field and sometimes they mess up. Unfortunately, mess ups can cost you a game with a team that’s about as evenly matched. Taking nothing away from Radford and totally biased opinion, I think Graham is the better team but Radford did what they needed to do to get the win, Graham didn’t. I hope Bobcats can get the win this Saturday in Salem.
  11. Mike is one of the best guys you’d ever meet. His appearance is deceiving. He’s not at all the type that wants everyone to see him although one can’t help but notice him. He’s as humble and good hearted as they come. He truly cares about the kids. He does a great job as strength and conditioning coach and is a great motivator.
  12. I hope Radford wins. I think they have a good chance to complete a perfect season! If Riverheads cannot defend the pass decently and Radford’s defense can clog up the run game of the Riverheads, I think Radford in a close one. The main advantage the Riverheads have is experience, they’ve been on that stage and they won’t panic. I think they would like nothing better than to prove everyone wrong that said they couldn’t hang with Class 2A. In the end, they may very well do that. They are a disciplined well-oiled machine!
  13. I agree with Floyd getting more touches. He runs hard every time he has the ball. I enjoyed watching Fix too. It’s going to be fun seeing him develop. Another player that I thought came a long way this year and proved to be a valuable team player was Gabe Lilly. He gives 110% like Floyd anytime he’s out there. Neither mind taking a hard hit.
  14. Senior leadership is important. Not knocking Graham’s Seniors but I think last year’s group of Seniors were better leaders on the field. They kept everyone focused and driven. Granted Graham had several Senior starters this year they lost permanently as the season progressed and young guys had to step in, I think Hughes is a good leader but he wasn’t on the field with them I think he did exceptionally well from the sidelines trying to support his team though. He’s definitely a positive role model & tough kid. The one highlight is Graham is very young and played a lot of young kids yesterday. Maybe they’ll grow into dynamic leaders on the field. I’m not sure if leadership can be taught or if it’s simply innate. I guess time will tell with this group.
  15. I kind of feel like bad punts, false starts, and dropped passes are BIG things in a state semifinal. I’m still bumfuzzled why Tony Palmer didn’t just keep feeding the ball to Clements or run Floyd or Jennings more. Why the heck do you pass so much when your passing game is not very consistent in comparison to the run game?
  16. Is he still AD at Grundy or did he move to Tennessee?
  17. I thought he is the AD at Grundy. Did he leave Buchanan County?
  18. Yeah, I was puzzled by that as well, I would have just kept giving it to him but they don’t ask me 🤣. He was stopped some but was getting consistent yardage. Defense wins championships but not when offense can’t score.
  19. I felt like the offense was off today. Defense did pretty good I thought containing Clark and bringing pressure.
  20. Out of reactions but agree! I don’t begrudge any kid going to where they think is the best fit for them. With John Marshall & LCA , situations, every high school athlete in VA should be able play wherever they want.
  21. Mount View was 1-8 , Richlands was 0-10.
  22. Not directed at me, I’d like to see Radford but I don’t know if they can pull off the win against the Riverheads.
  23. I know, lol! I just wouldn't blame any kid at this point if they left that program for any other school. Even at 0-10, Richlands would probably be better for a kid looking to relocate 😂😂😂.
  24. I think Crist is basically hands off & let's his OC & DC call the shots which kudos to him, it's working! Hope they can win against the RH but it will take a lot to do that.
