At Graham, Im not sure what property it would affect. There's are streets on 2 sides, the school is on one side and a big hill that is school property on the other.
I’d say Richlands will be ready. I don’t know about Graham as I don’t know where they are in the completion process. If Tazewell hasn’t started not sure how long it will take. Obviously quicker than Graham but Graham started weeks ago. Anyone know projected dates?
I think they were all originally projected to be completed by August. It will be tough to get the THS and GHS fields done by then, but we can always hope.
Not sure when the estimated completion date is for Graham but they’re sure moving a lot of dirt & looks like getting ready to install drainage soon. Hopefully, weather cooperates and things get done expediently so all three schools will have a place to practice once that begins in earnest.
Tell them to pressure wash the schools, while they're at it. All 3 buildings could use a good cleaning on the outside.
The 2 big question I wonder with Jennings leaving;
1) Who does he take with him? Usually kids don't transfer one at a time, they like to have a buddy or two go with them so it is easier transition. I would say the Fix kid would be one candidate, someone said his dad is a coach at Princeton.
2) Is something going on behind the scenes at Graham, any type of trouble. That program plays for state titles every other year, so why would a kid who is a starter and big time player up and leave? Could be as simple as it being across from his doorstep, but could be something else?
Fix is an outstanding soccer player. He can't play both football and soccer in WV, because they are in the same season. He gets the best of both worlds on the Virginia side.
Princeton may have an easier time of it than Bluefield then. Yeah, their middle school team was tough this year.
The seniors that are graduating this year from Bluefield had a very good Middle school team, doesn't always translate. They beat Graham 56-0 as 8th graders
Guys you know how this works, out of State transfers are inmediately eligible with a corresponding move into the attendance zone with a legal parent or guardian, it's not rocket science.
He's an absolute stud. I'm guessing he thinks he'll get more attention and/or rings with Princeton??
Huge gap to feel for sure. He was dominant.
A move to a school in the next county won't get him any more attention then he's already getting. Can't blame the kid for wanting to play in his backyard. As for rings, Princeton lost an absolutely amazing player from last season's squad, but with the re-alignment in WV, should have a good shot at going deep in the playoffs again. Same goes for the G-men. it's a lateral move, in my humble opinion. The main thing is that he does what is right for him and the he!! with what everybody else thinks. I wish him the best. I understand that he is a great kid and obviously a great athlete.
I think he's referring to Jenning's post.... No questions should be raised, Out of state students are allowed to pay tuition to go to school from neighboring counties to attend Tazewell County Schools, (or any other county for that matter), they can play sports (per VHSL Rules) if they enroll before freshman year.. If they do this after start of freshman year, they can't play sports if they live in a different attendance zone. Tazewell County has 10 times as many kids attending school from McDowell and Mercer Counties that do not play sports as opposed to those that do. Some counties don't require the extra tuition, it isn't much, like $250 per semester because they get funding from the state based on head counts at the beginning of the year. That's my limited knowledge of the situation, but I think it's pretty accurate.
It will be a big loss for Graham, especially at Defensive End. Big addition for Princeton's football team. Graham still has plenty of talent returning, going to have to work with somebody to fill that role, however. Best of luck to him, he has some major D-1 schools already looking at him.
As for sportsmanship by JM. Somebody posted that the jv even dominates when put in and that leads to lopsided scores. I recall having a little league coach that made us pass the ball 10 times before attempting a shot when we would get a big lead, surely JM could call off the dogs somewhat, if a rec league team can....it's just blatantly unsportsmanlike.
Same question for me. Where to VH and Graham play? I'm guessing at Va High, and if not, then surely at Gate City?
All state semis will be played at the home of the higher seed. If both are #1's, then higher seed top of bracket hosts - see the schedule I linked up earlier.
