  1. Another factor of why kids move is because Daddy isnt happy with playing time or how the kid is being utilized.  Or maybe Daddy wants their kid to be on a winning team.... So they take their kid to another school.

I do realize that some kids have benefited from a move, where perhaps a team has some kids being looked at and this may get them looked at as well.

  2. The Fort vs Luray game was fun to watch....but it had a frenetic pace and there were a lot of mistakes on both sides, not much defense and both teams seemed to be "getting away" with too much contact quite a bit.  It looked more like a rec league game to me.  No disrespect, I just think the officials let it evolve into that type of game.

Even with a legitimate move/change of residence, the new rules state that in order to be eligible for postseason a district committee must approve.  Not sure the M7 going to rubber stamp an obvious athletic move from a nearby school, regardless of loopholes.

I don't understand why somebody that's already sparked interest in College's would change schools anyway.  Even if it wasn't the reason, it would appear he / she did so to pursue a chance at a championship or playoff success.  I've see numerous kids change from school A to school B over the years and end up at Emory and Henry, Concord, Bluefield State.... occasionally a larger school.  The move from School A to School B didn't help their shot at playing in College at all.  The only benefit, I suppose was a chance to win more games.

Like @appyvol said, if there's a move, all is good.

Also, if you kept up with the Logan Thomas case at Brookville, that his kids won BTW, the VHSL's own bylaws stare that the building principal is the determiner of eligibility. In other words, there's always a loophole.

It's not always fair, but it is what it is.

I don't think anybody in their right mind nowadays would not follow up on those sort of things.  The climate on transferring is changing.

I know JHs son is at Emory and Henry. I think he will be a sophomore, so maybe this was the reason for the Abingdon comment and JH being there in 2 years as Abingdon is closer to EH. 2 years from now, that means the son is a senior. You don't move from one school to another school to be closer to your child for only 9 or 10 months. If you move from one school to another to be with your child, you do it to be with your child for 3 or 4 years. That ship has sailed, so if the comment about Abingdon was made based on JH being closer to Emory and Henry, understand his son will only have 9 or 10 months of school left in 2 years, then what? The kid may take a jo in Idaho or NC or wherever. Harless will be at Union in 2 years trying to beat Graham and Graham trying to beat him and the winner of D being a heavy favorite to win the state title.<----that's the more likely future.

His mother lives in Abingdon also, I believe.  According to an article I read somewhere... Somebody correct me of I'm  wrong.

If all things being pretty equal on the court , it may come down to which team can rise to the occasion. Central Woodstock hasn’t been to state basketball championship since 1980 I believe. Will the moment be too big?

The GMen went last year although they didn’t win, they stood toe to toe with John Marshall and were not intimidated especially that 2nd half of play by a team loaded with D1 athletes. I like Graham’s chances and hope Coach Baker & his bunch bring the 2A boys’ title back to Bluefield & SWVA.

TJ did not pressure Central - Woodstock the way that Graham pressured Central - Wise in their matchup.  Graham's defense was on point in that game.  I am very impressed that Central - Wise was able to come back and make a game of it.  Most teams would have folded under the tremendous pressure.  Hopefully Graham will be able to put up a similar defense effort in the finals.  They have got to stay out of foul trouble early.

  7. It doesn't appear that Central - Woodstock will have a height advantage on Graham.  They may have a two or three inch  advantage underneath, but not much.  Graham appears to be the more aggressive of the two teams.  Woodstock has some guys that can shoot it and a couple that can penetrate and make the basket.  These two teams should match up well.  Should be another great game.
