  1. It was such a kind gesture towards our band. They even played at a Bluefield College game. I hope other area schools will invite them to perform.
  2. Sounds like Princeton coach needs to get his players under control. If he's perpetuating or allowing this behavior, perhaps someone needs to take him to task.
  3. My advice “Build a Bridge, Get Over It” , “Let it Go”, “Move On” & whatever phrases one can muster. It’s over, bad call, almost any team can argue a bad call at some point or another. 2003 was a game costing call , Friday night, wasn’t. Teams can’t always use refs as an excuse for losing. Sometimes the other team is just better. Refs are human, some are probably are not unbiased as they should be. It’s unfortunate when that happens. Richlands needs to focus on Radford this Friday and put Bluefield behind them. The season must go on....best of luck Blues. I really think Blues can beat Radford or at least make it barn burner.
  4. Then my initial reaction to it being a bad call would be correct.
  5. I was there and thought it was a bad call at the time but if #5 was directly behind Forest then I’m like you it’s a valid procedure violation. The photo doesn’t clearly show #5 to the left. It would be great to have an aerial photo but I guess we all can just armchair ref the call. Either way, that call did not cost Richlands the game. They played hard but Bluefield is just on another level and they had some key players out.
  6. With all due respect, it’s ridiculous to compare 2003 to Friday night’s game. In 2003 the game was won and refs determined the outcome. There was one questionable call in my opinion Friday night. Bluefield had two TDS called back: two sloppy plays that allowed Richlands to score. If not for those missteps, the outcome would have been even more lopsided. Richlands played hard but they weren’t beating Bluefield this year, period. Anyone blaming the loss on refs didn’t watch the same game I did. Bluefield is strong, fast, talent all over the field. Richlands has talent in Webb and Forest. Simmons is decent at QB. They should have a good season when it’s said & done and make playoffs. If Bluefield had everyone in & healthy it would have been a more embarrassing loss than the regular season game with Graham last year. I’m not throwing any shade at Richlands , they always play hard and are well coached. I’m just looking at the entire picture realistically. 2003 is nowhere near 9/27/19.
  7. I don't believe anyone is worried about a horn per say. Obviously, Union fans believe it's perfectly fine to blow it during live play while others disagree. However, it seems most of us want the horns, fans, cowbells, band, etc. any other time and loud as they can be. We all love a great Friday Night atmosphere and those add to it! As far as I can tell everyone from Graham on this board was complimentary of Union's performance Friday night and thought they played the better game. My thoughts are just because there's no rule against something doesn't mean it should be done. I guess as adults we can agree to disagree about blowing the train horn at the LOS.
  8. With VH$L, it’s always about the almighty dollar. Biggest money racket going in the Old Dominion!
  9. I have been to Big Stone Gap as recently as last year when Graham played Union. The train horn(s) blew incessantly during live play. I’m guessing at least the secondary reason being to draw offsides penalty. I’ll concede the main reason is to fire up their team’s defense (at least I would hope that’s the reason) Your suggestion as to why the AD acted as he did Friday night about the air horns is entirely plausible after attending the game at Bullit Park last year. My ears were ringing for days, lol. I’m all for horns, bells, bands, & fans; it makes for a great atmosphere. I’m in agreement with most, live play should not be subjected to a nonstop train horn blowing. Some may disagree.
  10. Congratulations to Union. Graham fought hard to come back but Union was solid not penalty ridden & more disciplined. Bears executed well on both sides of the ball.
  11. It was a thrilling game and if Graham can clean things up they won’t lose another regular season game. If they play like last night, they won’t beat Richlands at home.
  12. Definitely Bears , much more solid than some thought.
  13. Sorry if you, Coach C., or anyone else was offended. As I said in another post, I think they’re just good buddies. It was just an offhand comment not meant to upset anyone or be taken seriously. Their show is entertaining and fun to listen to; congratulations to Coach Mance.
  14. Mance is Coach Crigger’s Man Crush 😍 If they lose to Abingdon tonight, he may need a refund on all that Mance cream. 😂
  15. Good Luck to Coach Mance and the Big R! Bring home that 200th win!
  16. Friday Night Lights! Go GMen! Bring your A game, focused, disciplined #GrahamPride! Safe travels for our Union buddies! Look forward to a hard fought game between two great teams & coaching staffs! Y'all can leave that train horn in Big Stone Gap if you want, lol!
  17. It's mentioned on a thread on Virginia Preps that he's out for the season by Radford person. I hate it for him or any player that gets hurt. He's a talented young man. I'm sure he'll be back better and stronger next year.
  18. I thought the same thing, glad he edited the title.
  19. Pulaski Co. Abingdon George Wythe Floyd Co. Radford Central Ridgeview John Battle Patrick Henry Graham Galax Grayson Co. Grundy Riverview WV Twin Valley Chilhowie JI Burton Thomas Walker Florida Wisconsin Texas A&M Louisville North Carolina Kansas Virginia Georgia Cincinnati Kansas City Minnesota Los Angeles Chargers Los Angeles Rams GotW Narrows 42
  20. Paul Wheeler coached at George Wythe before going to VH. We hated when he left. He was a top notch coach.
  21. The right team and defenders could cool his heels. What is plan B if Ridgeview plays someone in playoffs that puts the skids on him. Does Ridgeview have other playmakers that can step up? I know very little about RV other than Adkins. He is phenomenal for sure but even the best can be tripped up if the defense is strong and smart enough.
  22. Such heartbreaking; prayers for Alex’s family, friends, teammates, coaches, and the Roane community. The Bluefield community can certainly empathize with such a loss. It’s going to be hard on everyone in attendance to deal with witnessing such a tragedy. I cannot even imagine. Very sad 😔
