  1. You were still wrong about both Garden and Grundy....nice try Bro
  2. Galax fell off the planet awful fast. Amazing what a coach leaving or a new coach being hired can do to a program.
  3. Its awesome that local kids are getting the opportunity to go to the next level especially at higher level programs
  4. I would agree with some of these points honestly. Im unsure how fact a based rebuttal makes me seem "angrily arrogant?" Either way, yes Ragsdale was an absolute LEGEND and Giles was elite for a long long time. Giles enrollment has since dipped but also their classification. How does that not balance out? Sure, you lost some potential talent but Giles is still a decent size 1A school right? Teams that used to be almost a bye week for Giles now beats them with regularity (even smaller schools) so either every student Giles lost in enrollment was awesome football players or they as a program just aren't creating the type of talent they once did. Williams certainly did not get it done till the end though. He quit on tje program years ago and wasn't anything but a figure head from what I seen honestly.
  5. So there's been like 4 or 5 answers covering a 40 year timespan??? 2 were obviously wrong and ridiculous that went all the way back to the 80's. So we have 2-3 promotions that turned struggling teams around out of hundreds right? Wow, they really got ya bud!
  6. You get zero points for either of those two. 1 one hit wonder season doesn't classify as turning a program around. Rife for Garden only had 2 winning seasons in 9 years....not exactly a turnaround I would say? Im assuming you're talking about Rowe for Grundy who had 10 winning seasons in 24 years.
  7. What difference does it make? We could all make a wish list of people who obviously didn't apply. Likely Williams planned it this way to ensure the next good ol boy got hired. Sam is obviously gonna get the position and nobody even said he wouldn't do a good job. He's definitely a step up from Williams and it'll show his first year. Some of the current staff/assistant coaches have said hes probably not head coach material so we'll see in time. He definitely needs to get some thicker skin and if he's gonna take that position though. Criticism comes with the territory and whoever should focus on winning a damn football game instead of what's said on this forum.
  8. Nobody will be. Case in point, Giles is no longer a football school and the powers to be don't hire coaches anymore just to win football games with the exception of a few schools. Its nice to show up at kickoff though and find a seat. Wasn't always the case.
  9. Giles, in all honesty have played horrible football for the past 7 seasons so why hire someone to take over the program that was there as a part of it the entire time? Giles has a chance to revamp the program now. An internal hire could be just an extension of the program they have been recently. Not even sure Sam has the football pedigree which most schools might look at in a hire? Played for a terrible program all through H.S, didn't learn football playing in college, and to my knowledge has never been a head coach. All things considered.......
  10. That pick in a coach would be Giles just being satisfied and continuing the status quo imo. The entire good Ole boy coaching staff would stay in place and continue doing what they have been. Not a chance they drop the single wing if that's who they end up hiring.
  11. Easiest and most convenient move by Giles as most expected......
  12. Ya wanna know what color my underwear is too? My family decisions doesn't need discussed on the internet nor any of your business honestly. He's home from college for the summer so if you see him around you can ask him. Hes both nice amd approachable. He's just working, lifting, and trying to get ready for his 2nd year of college football. You should come support him for a game this season as he is one of your own
  13. You're not serious right? Kids go to different schools for all kinds of various reasons
  14. Lol.....maybe it wasn't for football?? You don't really think kids transferred to play football for Williams do you?
  15. Was just thinking 🤔 Giles might not have won more than 5 games in the last 4 tears without outside talent. Guage fleeman (Narrows/Monroe), Gunter Dunford (Narrows), Hunter Moser (Monroe) Aaron Miller (Monroe), Jackson Parsell (Narrows) Joe Linkenhokier (Craig) Conner Price (Blacksburg)...etc etc etc These are kids that didn't even live in the Giles school district that played football at Giles. Ricky Cook (also an outsider) from Narrows made a huge impact. So Giles playing with just Giles talent would have been so much worse than the continuous losing seasons by the Spartans. Giles would have been the new Bland Co. without a lot of kids playing there that shouldn't have.
  16. I seen an interview one time talking about Giles Single Wing being so deadly largely in part because a lot of the schools success came when almost every offense in SWVA ran an under center type offense. Not saying that's true or not true but makes a lot of sense. Much easier to prepare for now because teams see some form of shotgun style offense weekly. Shotgun formations with misdirection is literally what most teams do now. Would have been a foreign affair for defenses in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Giles won a lot of games through the years against more talented teams because of that offense. There's still single wing success all over the country but just not at Giles. Williams single wing and Ragsdales doesn't even look the same. Running the play clock down to zero all the time (even when your behind) probably isn't a recipe for success either. Hopefully Giles finds their guy that will both run the single wing and be dedicated to the program. Coaches can change a culture and Giles NEEDS that!!
  17. Do you honestly think pearisburg va was just blessed with talent for 30 years and it suddenly just stopped? 🤣 Coaches and the things they do in the off season makes that talent. You realize how stupid you sound right?
  18. Giles hasn't changed, the culture did. Williams did good reeling off the heels of Ragsdale. After all of the former coaches influences left, so did the program. Giles just took a little longer to completely collapse to a coaching change as say a Galax. He worked his first few years but everyone knows he checked out years ago. Giles talent is the same as it always was but people make excuses otherwise. Even with "a drop in talent" a drop in classification would nullify it. Lazy coaches running a shit program is 💯 the problem at Giles. Time for a change and im glad it's happening.
  19. For the Williams did a great job crowd, here are irrefutable facts. In the last 7 years, he had 6 losing seasons. Set a GHS record for both points against and average points against in a season. The last 7 years had a negative point differential which has Never happened in the History of Giles high school. Not just during the Ragsdale years but EVER. So it started well but ended in an absolute disaster. Giles has been getting their ass handed to them in the off-season for years and their record has reflected that. Williams let one of the most prominent programs in the entire state go to absolute crap.
  20. Why would I? Likely, I wear different colors watching my other son play
  21. Looks like Giles will be getting a new head coach.
  22. Curious as to what teams have started the grind and who wants it more?
  23. Too bad Giles coaches don't have the same amount of courage
  24. I figured Giles and Narrows are approximately even so we have to look at matchups. Ass whooping by proxy doesn't always exist but based on what Bath did to Narrows they could do to Giles. So it's possible that they should receive the edge against both Grayson and GW who neither looked real goos against Giles. Bath is definitely the dark horse to win the region
