Basketball has been the same as well, Jaime Carter was the last good coach Lee had in basketball made playoffs every year except his first I think. He left on his own because of the same reasons I mentioned above

They will never compete until they get a coach in that can get the kids out to play, and buy into his system. That will never happen because the board members and politics in Lee, they will only hire a yes man that they can control. Until they give a coach 100% control over the program, hiring the assistants he wants, and just leave them alone and let them run the program they way they want, then the Lee High football program will be non existent in the next 5 years. Having only 30 kids 8-12 grade and having to play a jv schedule with all 8th graders is sad. Need to hire the best candidate whether they are a teacher or not and let them run the program. A head football coaches job is to win games and mold young men. But, they will hire whoever can juggle the most responsibilities at once like teaching, coaching, driving the bus etc to eliminate hiring other postions. The simple fact is the higher ups in Lee County don't care about winning games or sports, and some of them will tell you that.

no way Burton beats Chilhowie. Chilhowie has to many weapons on offense.Also, playing in the district Burton plays in makes them look better than they actually are so they aren't very battle tested. Chilhowie is 10x better than the next best team in the Cumberland other than Burton. May be a closer game but still think Chilhowie wins without much trouble.

Central might slow Adkins down, but I'd say he is at least around the 200 yd mark and 2 TDs(crazy to think that's slowing him down). If they do put a stop to Adkins, I think QB is a good enough passer with 2 good WR, not to mention the QBs running ability. It will be closer but still think Ridgeview has to much as a team for Central to beat.

i think chilhowie (sp) has a chance to make another run to the state championship in that division again. Solid QB and RB with at least one good WR threat in #3 i think is his number.

so he will likely fall short of the single season record of 3600 and 59 tds? What is everybody opinion on that? They have at least 2 more games imo they beat Central, and then who knows after that. If he can get 3 more games or all the way to the finals I think he has a shot

Not throwing stones I said I’m glad TW is winning and they have a good coach. And once again that only helps prove the point. Lee can’t beat anybody in VA except Cumberland teams every now and then

Martin and his staff had winning seasons 4 out of 5 years, and made the playoffs all those years. He also didn't kiss up to the school board and they ran the program the way they wanted to, the right way. He was fired because the good ol boy system and they had to get a coach that was best friends with all the school board members. The lame excuse they used for firing him was that he was a bus driver and they wanted the football coach to be someone that was at the school all the time. Averaged over 60 kids a year on the team those years, now can barely get 35 8-12 grade. That's why Lee will never turn the program around because they don't care about results just making sure all their buddies have the job they want.

Would beat Lee but is that really saying much? They do play in the weakest conference in the state. That's why they have good regular seasons, then get destroyed first round of the playoffs. But hey at least they are wining, and heard they have a pretty good coach that will probably be around for awhile down there.

Dean at Gate City will struggle without Mac and Ervin. He is a great shooter and playing with those 2 his whole career has made it easy on him. Mac and Ervin getting double and tripled teamed left him open for clean looks all the time. He is a good player, but cant carry a team and score the way Mac and Ervin did. will have to have developed other parts of his game besides shooting the 3, or those weakness will get exposed now.

well lets hope hes smart, because he doesn't have any experience as a head coach. Basically got the job because nobody else wanted it.

its simply a matter of the people in charge don't care about the sports programs at Lee. You always have great teams from little league all the way to 8th grade, then half the kids don't play once they get to Lee because they see how it is. They continually strike out on coaching hires, and don't take the hiring process serious enough. The people making the coaching hires could careless if Lee wins or loses. At the rate it is going and the continued drop in numbers every year, their might not be a football program in about 5 years unless they start taking it serious and make the right changes.
