Coach Stanley could be a good pick for head coach for Ridgeview.

Ridgeview has got a good passing attack with receivers. If I’m not mistaken coach Stanley was on the old haysi teams that was pass heavy and had great success

I think so too. I think it may make Ridgeview more multiple/unpredictable like Haysi used to be under Colley. Ridgeview's inability to run the ball against good teams really hurt them last year I thought.

I am excited to see if O’quinn can repeat his success.

He's got all his targets back. Alot of his success came from either chucking it deep to Beavers or throwing a screen to Beavers. Ridgeview struggled to adjust when teams doubled Beavers. Would probably help to move him around in the formation or put him in the slot. Hill came on some towards the end of the season.

  3. Unless Ridgeview can find some way to run the ball I don't think they can win. Play calling has consisted of run up between the tackles two plays, get stuffed, and then try to chuck it deep to #7 to bail them out. Ridgeview has played 3 good teams and are 1-2 in those games. They are only 2-3 plays away from being 0-3 in those games. I think they may be better defensively than they showed last week but I guess we will find out.

RV has a problem embracing what they are….a spread run/pass offense.  They still want to be a spread to run and just get in their own way.  They should be throwing it 20-25 times a game…period.  Beavers should get it 10-12 times a game…Counts should get 8-10 a game.  In no situation should the second team RB touch the ball more than #7 or #5.  Against Union they wasted three possessions trying to “establish the run”.  They should have came out firing and stressing the defense from the first play.  It feels like they just haven’t figured out how to use their weapons.  Get the ball to 7, 5 and 13 as fast and frequently as you can.

Play calling has definitely been suspect. It would be nice to see some variations in Ridgeview's formations as well.

Big game and not much discussion yet.  Playoff implications and M7 championship implications. It will be interesting as two of the best passing attacks go at it.  Abingdon is very balanced while RV might be a bit more explosive.  It will be interesting to see if RV can defend the pass. Token note:  Abingdon should rezone, give 150 kids to J. Battle and Holston and be a legit 2 A school.

#7 is the explosion. If Abingdon is able to take him away it will be a long night for the Wolfpack.

Union lost all around, Central played like everyone expected, 4 turnovers and the line play for Central won this game. Rhoads please come back , please please. Our linebacker were were getting caught up with the line being driven back , bad night , poor gameplay on D , but Central was by far the better team

Eastside sure has become a powerhouse in the Cumberland.

I didn't see a lot of cockiness in this thread, seemed very quiet for a big game.

IMO, from what I've seen as long as Union keeps the current DC they will never be an elite program. Defense wins championships. The current DC is clueless when making adjustments and putting the right personnel on the field.

Did you not say in a previous thread that Union was the best team in the region right now?

I have been getting Blasted on this thread because I feel Ridgeview will win by 3 TDs...I admit I could be wrong...But I have been to every RV game the last two seasons and I can tell you this...They do what ever the defense gives them...Richlands came in and stacked the box with 7-8 men at times and RV threw all over them...I have seen teams attempt to put two high safeties and Ridgeview run the ball down their throats..
In my opinion Travis Turner has the toughest Job of the night...He has to decide how he wants RV to play..They will either run it or pass it..I keep Seeing folks say “RV is a throwing team” That is not the case..They Average over 200 yards a game Rushing and about 120 passing..Oquinn Completes a lot of short Easy open passes. I have seen Oquinn change the play and throw deep to the Beavers kid when the Defense plays him 1 on 1..If you double the Beavers kid, Koda Counts catches the  ball just as good and sometimes even better than Beavers..Counts Actually has more catches than Beavers...The Running Back for Ridgeview is also a threat when he is not running power. I bet Coach Tiller is praying that Turner plays RV like he did Graham..5 in the box

Where are you seeing team and individual stats for Ridgeview? I would be interested in seeing them if you could share a link.

  9. I'm a little disappointed as I was expecting a little more action in this thread. I'm not sure how this one goes. Both teams have lost significant talent from last year and haven't really played anyone as a measuring stick so far this year.

I'm an older, poorly educated Appalachian American. My research skills are shaky at best, not to mention my ability to comprehend the actual findings of my research. That's why I consulted with my doctor of 35 years. He's always been pretty good at understanding shit related to the medical field, and has never steered my wrong. He told me emphatically that I needed to get vaccinated, so I did as soon as I was eligible.

Reading your coherent statement, which seems to be coupled with a keen sense of self awareness, tells me that you are far from poorly educated.
