SwvaOG got a reaction from Liam McPoyle in Any coaching jobs coming open?
If it is who I think it is, he played at Richlands and coached at E&H for a while. He has a lot of football experience and knowledge.

Bluebird, there was a grand total of Zero times that you were accused of doing anything wrong. Ryan pointed out that BR is the founder of fourseasons football. By graciously pointing that out, why on earth would Ryan "need to be careful" about what he writes? The appropriate social response that should have came from your fingers would be one showing gratitude or thanks, not a scolding of Ryan being "careful about what he writes."

Lebanon has the real chance of becoming a dominant 1A football program. They are also perfectly located to poach the occasional Honaker and/or Castlewood player. They obviously have the blueprint with their baseball team. If they are already engaged in building consistency and structure at the youth level they are well on their way. Daddy ball at the youth level erodes a program’s progress significantly. And this region is known for some youth Daddy ball.

Yeah…building quite a resume a little too quickly isn’t the best thing sometimes. I do believe most of these moves are justified fairly easily. Can’t blame him for coming back to his Alma mater. Then a D-1 school offered him a job….can’t blame that. Then that coaching staff was let go. Sooo…,not to hard to see how he got to 5 different schools in 10 years. The main problem is if he still wants to get back into the college ranks….does he bolt next year?

SwvaOG got a reaction from Ryan4VT in Gavin Cox signs
His biggest hurdle will be mechanics and some really bad habits…throwing without setting feet, doesn’t keep the ball up and ready to throw…leaves it hanging down below his waist….bit of hitch in his throwing motion….all correctable issues. Physical tools are there. I’m pulling for him.

This^. The previous staff was almost negligent or dismissive about the region. VT gets a lot of fan support and dollars flowing in from west of Roanoke. The occasional waving of their flag at some schools is good for business. Pry’s staff were at Thomas Walker a couple of weeks ago and swung by Ridgeview as well. I’m sure they’ve been to several other local schools. It is all about relationships.

Meadows (committed to new staff)
Bradshaw (committed to new staff)
Jenkins (GC) maybe, he committed to W&M
Harris/Beavers remain to be seen
Trenton Adkins could (don’t think he had a VT offer)
Did Cam Allen have a committable offer?

Ok I'll admit that I didn't realize that some of those guys even saw the field for their teams.

Whataboutism at its finest!!! You initially asked "how many can play at that level?" Now, it's "how many have actually made an impact?" Keep moving the goal post. I'm sure you could wow us all with your major college football gridiron glory!
Cam Allen - Graham - Purdue - All Big 10 performer and will have a shot at playing on Sunday's. He has appeared in every game since the beginning of his sophomore season. Caleb Spurlin - Galax - Appalachian State - Four-year starting Defensive Lineman at Appalachian State. Two time all Sun Belt Conference performer. Finished second for the Burlsworth Trophy, which honors the best former walk-on football player in the country. PJ Prioleau - Radford - Virginia Tech - Redshirted as a freshman Cole Pickett - Galax - Virginia Tech - Redshirted as a freshman Cole Blaker - Narrows - Virginia Tech - Played significant minutes in VT's Bowl game in December. Jaden Keller - Tennessee - Virginia Tech - Reserve OLB. Saw action in 4 games as a true freshman. Noah Sage - Lee - Virginia Tech - Played significant minutes in VT's Bowl game in December. James Mitchell - Union - Virginia Tech - One of the best TE's in the country. Was a star at VT. Sean Martin - Bluefield - West Virginia - Special Teams standout. Saw significant minutes on defense finial 5 games of the season. Kaulin Parris - Bluefield - West Virginia (Transfer Portal) Jordan Stout - Honaker - Penn State - All Big 10 punter. Semifinalist for the Ray Guy award. Levi Forrest - Richlands - Penn State (Transfer Portal) Trenton Adkins - Ridgeview - Toledo (Transfer Portal) JJ Davis - Bluefield - Marshall (Transfer Portal?) Isaiah Johnson - Bluefield - Arizona State - Redshirted as a freshman Brodie Meadows - Graham - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022 Xayvion Bradshaw - Graham - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022 Benji Gosnell - Carroll County - Virginia Tech - Freshman in 2022. Had 52 D1 scholarship offers. Originally committed to Ohio State before signing with VT. Deiyantei Powell-Woods - Bluefield - Central Michigan - Appeared in every game of his college career. Ben Cox - Radford - Vanderbilt - Started every game but one of his college career. Of the 20 players on this list, 6 are starters, 4 are in the transfer portal, 4 are key contributors to their teams in the very early stages of their career, 3 were redshirted, and 3 haven't began their college career yet. Again, more than you realize can play at that level and most are contributing.

Players from SWVASports.com coverage area currently on D1 rosters. Please add to the list of any I inadvertently missed.

There are more than you realize. Add in the fact that the previous staff didn't recruit the whole of Virginia, not just SWVA, and it becomes all the more egregious. I like Justin Hamilton but he, of all people, should know the benefit of in-state recruiting.

SwvaOG reacted to Tru Blue 72 in Riley Keen QB
I never saw Keen play, Cox was okay, but in my old opinion would have been a better lineman. I do have to say he threw a pretty ball, and it is what it is. Cox will play on the college level, but won't be QB in my opinion. Maybe a tight end.

I think Hartsock is a Senior. Look for the Hackney kid (played H-Back this season) to move to Tailback in 2022

SwvaOG got a reaction from redtiger in Predictions for Next Season
Hartsock returns, part of that big Jr class they got. But I agree that the Hackney kid would make a good RB….could be a load to handle which would be a nice counter to throwing the ball all over the field. Hill looked like he always was trying to get the corner but didn’t have the foot speed to do so. He would had been better served if he would gone the bruising tailback route. He’s make a hell of a TE in the right system….like All State TE. RV should use him at Hback and throw and let him run a bit…but he doesn’t seem like he wants to block.

Not sure if Union could ever be considered the spoiler. They’ve been the top dogs in the m7 (minus abingdon) forever it feels like and until RV or Central handily beat them more than once they will always be the district favorite in my opinion. Too well coached to have down years even when their athletes aren’t as talented and plentiful as they used to be.
Ridgeview will be as good as their team chemistry and coaching allows. If they can strengthen their run game to take pressure off the pass they’ll be a hard night for anyone. Egos, bad coaching decisions and poor discipline may be their undoing.
Central will more than likely struggle in their first year with a new coach regardless of their talent level. Transitioning to a new offense after having an established identity might take a while for those kids to get used to but they’ll start clicking as the season goes.
Lee has some firepower on offense with the RB Huff who’s a hard runner and the QB Pendergraft who can sling it and could very well upset Union, RV or Central on any given night. But where they are bad, they are really bad. Especially on the defensive side. Their OLBs and secondary could not tackle a soul last season and would consistently get chewed up on the outside in the run game. Interior d-line was their strong suit. As for keeping their starters in for the whole game, that is true, but Lee’s first string are the same age as the second string guys they play against, they don’t really have a lot of JV guys to let develop. This years 2nd string opponents is who they’ll be seeing on the field next year.
I know nothing about Gate City and Battle but Abingdon will be consistent as always with their unlimited pool of kids

Ok, still not sure if you’re trolling or really don’t know that much about M7 football but I’ll do this once. Central doubled Beavers in the playoffs and Cannon Hill destroyed them, so they definitely won’t put three on him. Lee will be much improved…so you’ve got that. They will finish no better than 4th in M7. Beavers went against Jenkins (GC), Webb (Richlands) and Bradshaw…all three D-1 players not to mention the Cook kid from Abingdon, Graham’s other D-2 bound corner and the DBs from Bluefield. That’s a lot of disrespect to a lot of good players.

M7
Starts with the 3A Abingdon team. They lost a lot of skill positions (QB,WRs, RB) but simply have more kids to pick from. People forget that M7 teams have to beat Abingdon to win the conference.
Ridgeview- Popular pick as they return (10) starters on Offense (lose their #4 WR). They have, IMHO, the best QB in the region (Kingsport Times offensive POY), All-State WR in Beavers, very talented WR/RB Cannon Hill and Koda Counts at WR (59 receptions). They have to replace two All Region DL and their MLB but are very fast and athletic in D but a bit undersized.
Union- Return good amount of starters; however, they will be replacing very valuable and talented players. They lose All-State RB and All region LB Lomax, QB/DB Bunch, WR/DB/PR Malachi Jenkins, WR/DB C. Jenkins and a couple of OL/DL. Should be pretty good on D but O will take a step back.
Central- Devastating lose of talent on both sides of the ball plus will be breaking in a new head coach. They lose (3) All-State defensive guys in LB Tester, DB Mullins and DL L. Mullins. They also lose All Region LB in Boggs. On offense they lose Mr Everything, Ethan Mullins, RB/TE Tester, 3 OL (All Region Center), RB Boggs, WR Sartin.
Lee- Returns their QB and some skill positions and a good nucleus of OL/DL. They will be improved and should challenge for a playoff spot again.
Gate City loses Carson Jenkins, the most overlooked explosive player in the M7 last season.
John Battle- Poor damn John Battle.
