I would say 2006 John I Burton is one. Lost 21-20 and there was a controversial flag on a Burton TD. 
 
There was one Gate City team in 2002? They shut out most of their opponents. The only team to score more than 2 TDs on them actually beat them AND won state. 
 
Of course numerous Greeneville and Elizabethton teams. 
 
01-03 had some TOUGH Cloudland teams, but the level of competition in regular season really hurt them once they played some Knoxville, Chattanooga teams.

After watching both...agreed. Glenvar by 14 plus because it's in big stone gap....at Glenvar Id say by 21 plus

I would have compared those old Powell Valley teams to 6 headed monsters that you could not vanquish. If you neutralized one element, the other element would step up long enough for the previous elements to step up later. Like cutting off one of the six heads. The head needed time to grow back. During the interim, the other heads grew more ferocious. Then the cut off head would grow back, strong as ever. 
 
You couldn’t neutralize them. 

Well. Phil Robbins did put Travis Turner in position to take his spot at Powell Valley, and by extension the coach at Union since Wise County consolidated schools. One would imagine that he would remember that and appreciate the help afforded to him. 
 
Also, looking at history, Phil coached at Christiansburg, and didn’t they play Giles every year? Seems like he would have gotten quite a bit of experience coaching against the single wing. 
 
Also, didn’t Powell Valley have the upper hand in the series against Giles? That right there should have been a clue that perhaps the guy knew what he was talking about. 
 
Single wing is no joke when it is run right. 

Nick Saban wasn’t Alabama’s first choice either. 

Big plays like turnovers, scoring, turnover on downs, or converting on 4th? I am ok with blowing the horns AFTER the whistle. 
 
Now, I hate the Kentucky Wildcats, but I think it’s cool when the other team gets a penalty, they play a recording of the Law and Order gavel “dun-dun” after the penalty is announced. I think they also play a recording of a factory whistle when Kentucky gets a first down. 
 
Don’t overdo it with the noisemakers.

UT’s band has grown to 415. But still, a high school band with about 350 is remarkable. 

Yeah I am glad that was a false rumor. I looked around and saw that the Union band was in the Veterans Day parade. 

Union is for real. I know that much.

In their defense they played the game away here at North Greene, it was cold, and Halloween. 
 
But I commend the players who stuck with it. Gritty players. We were up 42-0 on them at halftime. Final score was 49-24. Played mostly freshmen and sophomores after halftime. 
 
I mean, at least travel and support your athletes. They know they’re not strong. Don’t need to rub their noses in it by not going to watch them.

Yes. Technically it’s Baileyton but typically pronounced Belton. The Bailey family after which the town is named actually feels insulted if you don’t say Belton.
