This is what I've calculated real "quick-like"...outcomes of other games may swing enough points one way or the other to change these scenarios... The only way V-High won't make the playoffs is if Marion defeats both V-High and Abingdon and wins the Highlands outright. If all three teams tie at 2-1 in the Highlands, V-High will win the district, and the automatic spot, based on ratings points even if they lose their last two games to Marion and Grundy. Graham MUST beat Carroll Co. and Martinsville MUST lose to Bassett for Graham to get in. OR, if Graham loses to Carroll Co., Martinsville MUST lose at least two of their three remaining games including the Bassett game. If Martinsville defeats Bassett, they will likely outpoint Graham for the final spot regardless of the outcome of their final two games. If Martinsville loses all of its remaining games, Graham will outpoint Martinsville for the final spot regardless of the outcome with Carroll Co.

I saw both of these games... '96 Bluefield beat JM something like 34-0...it wasn't close. '97 Bluefield beat JM 20-6 but had 5 TDs called back...guess where that game was played...

It is...but they really wouldn't understand "tongue in cheek"...most would reach for the Skoal can...no, wait, that's "cheek and gum"...LOL

Oops! I failed to mention that the "on purpose" was only TIC...for those that are not familiar with "TIC" it means "read with sarcasm"...although some of you probably don't understand what "sarcasm" is...TIC...

If that happens, maybe Bluefield should lose to James Monroe "on purpose" to avoid that type of 1st round matchup...very interesting indeed...

Having nine games WILL NOT hurt them...their point total will be divided by nine, not ten...it actually may help them, if they did have a 10th game and lost it, it would definitely hurt their chances at the post season...

Graham's chances are slim and none...unless they win the last two games...

Lance...good call on the Marion-Lee game...Marion must have figured out how to score. Graham won't make the playoffs this year. Division 3 will look like this... 1- Grundy 2/3- Tazewell or Martinsville 4- Virginia High

Tid Bit!!! Where you been??? Congrats to the 'Dogs...they played hard and earned the win the other night. I think Coach Wyatt is on the path to turning things around in T-town. Eight games into the season and Graham still doesn't have things worked out...playoffs look like a real long shot now...

Do you remember who beat Gretna two years ago in the playoffs??? The same Liberty-Beford team that was up 30-0 at the half on Grundy in the State-Semis...Gretna only lost to Liberty by 9 with a So. QB...what was his name...oh yeh, Vic Hall. All, I can say is...time will tell...sweet dreams, Jimmy!

I said the same thing about the two teams buzzsaw! I told someone this morning that I have seen high school teams in VA that could definitely play with either of these two schools. The QB was good but the Renfro kid impressed me the most...always found a way to get the big play and with the flu to boot...

I played in a "pick-up" basketball game at Virginia Tech against Bruce Smith in the mid-80s. We were playing winner stays up, BS walks into the gym and says "I got next game"...who was going to argue? Our team won...BS picked his team...we got the ball first...I fired up a shot that rimmed out...BS, all 300lbs of him, leaps from the middle of a crowd in the lane...bodies go flying everywhere...BS snags the rebound, comes down elbows flailing (DUCK!!!), and heads up court on a one-man fast break...being that I had shot the ball from the top of the circle, I began to retreat to play "token" defense...here comes Bruce Smith like a freight train down the floor, heading for the goal...DUCK!!!! (AGAIN)...BS leaps from the lane and finishes with a vicious two-hand slam dunk...I'm thinking, this game won't take long... There's my 15 minutes, umm, 15 seconds of fame...

Have you looked at the League Standings...6-way logjam for first at 3-2, several more teams at 2-3, and one team at 1-4...things are going to be interesting before this is over...

Hard to find??? Don't think so...saw them EVERYWHERE in Hanes Mall in W-S, NC yesterday...
