  1. I think I have a similar story to you. Grew up playing baseball but somewhere around the time I got into high school, I just lost that interest and I’ve never been able to get it back. I worked for the Salem Red Sox for 2.5 seasons when I was at VT and it’s fun to watch in person, but I just can’t watch it on TV. Or commit to paying attention for 162+ games in a season. To me, even the NBA with their 82 is far too much for my attention span lol. Soccer is so fun once you figure out the nuances and intricacies. And even before you gain that understanding, go to a MLS match at Charlotte and sit near the supporters. You won’t be disappointed at the party atmosphere this sport is bringing to the country. I’m so excited to see where the sport is in 20-30 years from now.
  2. But could a soccer program survive without football players?
  3. Since they're re-doing the track at Richlands, does that mean we can finally center the soccer circle around the R at midfield instead of having the soccer lines like 7 yards off in one direction? haha
  4. But it's baseball. It's inherenly NOT interesing. hahaha. (I'm in danger)
  5. Just saw where the old turf at Richlands is being sent to Tazewell for their baseball and softball fields. First I’ve heard of that.
  6. You ain't kidding haha. I remember being a freshman in the band and getting ready to perform for the first time and standing on the visiting sidelines and not being able to see anything below the mid-thigh of the Richlands players on the other side haha. Blew my 14 year old mind.

  8. Work is officially underway at Richlands.
  9. I think you mean pitch.
  10. But I don't judge. I never miss a PBA telecast and I know that most people would rather watch grass grow in Antartica than ever watch bowling on TV haha. So I get it.
  11. I would legitimately rather go watch grass grow in Antartica than watch a hockey game lol. I've tried to watch in the past. I've been to a handfull of Canes games. I just can't get into it. It's clearly a me thing since so many of my friends and people I've met love it.
  12. I had trouble with the fastball 😂
  13. Better use of resources than that boring sport baseball. 😉
  14. Shhh! You'll ruin their narrative!
  15. Like taking candy from a baby.
  16. That explains Jennings. But what about Clements & Edwards? 😉
  17. Hunter Norris is the new coach.
  18. The last line of that first paragraph certainly raises some questions.
  19. Congrats to our super 6 from SWVA who finished on the podium and earned All-State honors!! This tournament is different from the boys — there are no classes. In some brackets there were upwards of 50 ladies battling it out, and to stand on the podium is one helluva achievement. Grayson Co.: 145 - Isabella Hill - State Champion John Battle: 120 - Kari Streit - 5th place Lebanon: 114 - Portia Campbell - 3rd Radford: 152 - Margaret Paige - 3rd Richlands: 126 - Kendi Dye - 6th Union: 145 - Kyndal Satterfield - 4th
  20. She did. They have multiple criteria on how they do it. The order is: Winning percentage Number of wins 2023 VHSL Girls Championship finishing place Record vs. girls this season The 1 seed in that bracket is like 32-6 to Portia's 25-11. Those two have the most wins in that bracket -- but there are several girls who are 10-2 or 12-5 (for example) that got seeded higher by percentages. She'll be a threat to make the semi's from that 10 seed for sure. She's a helluva wrestler.
  21. Good luck to all of our girls from SWVA as they go for their state championships this weekend up at Gar-Field in Woodbridge. I’ll try to keep how the SWVA contingent does as it goes along. Here are the ladies and their seeds. Central: 100 - Kyle Sturgill 9 seed 114 - Sophie Carter 16 seed Ft. Chiswell: 107 - Olivia Scott 11 seed Grayson Co.: 132 - Danielle Burkhardt 19 seed 138 - Ashlynn Wilson 15 seed 145 - Isabella Hill 3 seed 152 - Lucy Kate Cherry 7 seed 185 - Lizbeth Lopez 12 seed John Battle: 120 - Kari Streit 6 seed Lebanon: 114 - Portia Campbell 10 seed 185 - Hazel Garrett 14 seed Pulaski Co.: 152 - Emily East 26 seed 165 - Patricia Eubanks 32 seed Radford: 100 - McKenzie Leighton 17 seed 120 - Kathryn Price 13 seed 132 - Kaitlyn McMurray 17 seed 145 - Lilly Brunner 16 seed 152 - Margaret Paige 8 seed 165 - Jackson Barnett 11 seed Richlands: 120 - Cami Spencer 7 seed 126 - Kendi Dye 2 seed 138 - Abby Hampton 43 seed Thomas Walker: 138 - Gabby Dixon 42 seed Union: 145 - Kyndal Satterfield 1 seed
  22. They usually do this at a neutral. Could it possibly be Richlands? It’s the mid-point between the two.
  23. 5 of the top 10 in class 2 are from region D. 💪🏻
