Dodgers's Achievements

  1. Are these games on Nfhs network
  2. Liam I figured you could find this answer starting with the 2024 season
  3. Some area schools are blessed to succeed on a yearly basis or to at least be competitive while other schools might struggle to have a successful team once every five years on average. I've got a question for those who enjoy digging into high school football history. My question is which SWVA Class 1D and Class 2D school beginning with the 2024 season has gone the longest without beating an opponent with a .500 or better record? Several people can probably find the answer in no time while I myself develop brain fog when digging into a lot of stats. Thanks and Merry Christmas to everyone on this great sports board!
  4. What is the deal with Honaker? They are really down to say the least. Is the talent pool that slim or are kids just not playing?
  5. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. It is very easy to have too many coaches and most of them don't even teach. Many of them are there to stroke their own ego or to coach their own kid in most cases. I really like what was said here about Graham Clark being at Chilhowie. He was not there long but he had success and brought a lot of excitement with just a few coaches. I also remember a family member who coached back in the 80s and he was hired as a teacher/coach and when he stopped coaching he was moved to a different school so another coach could be brought in. Having your head coach in the school on a daily basis is a big advantage as the kids get to know and interact with him on a daily basis. That definitely means a lot in today's society. Most of your more successful schools go this route and there are a few exceptions but not many.
  6. Coach Palmer has done an excellent job no matter what happens next year. Don't be surprised if Graham wins it all again in 2025.
  7. Some schools won't get rid of a coach no matter how bad they are. Times have changed a lot over the years. I remember when it used to be win or hit the road. Really unfair to the kids also when better coaches get passed up because they don't know the right people. Then you end up with around 25 kids and you play the softest schedule you can get and the majority of spectators at the game are family members.
  8. Patrick Henry is a team which has really transformed its program and culture. It wasn't to long ago that the Rebels a hard time winning many games. Now they sit at the top of class 1D. Awesome turn around in Glade Spring.
  9. Does anyone know the schedule for Rye Cove in 2025. My guess is a couple of your weaker teams will drop them.
  10. Yes I do understand what you are saying. I'm just thinking on a yearly basis Grayson County, Lebanon, George Wythe, and Fort Chiswell are pretty tough teams for a small 1A school to play in addition to the Hogoheegee district schedule. Eastern Montgomery should be a gimme most years. I know this schedule makes them better but it can also cause injuries and losses which could keep a good RR team at home come playoff time. I guess it all depends on what the school prefers. Thanks for your insight.
  11. Coach Hughes is a good man and good for the kids. He was always very helpful and humble the few times I interacted with him. I thought the RR football nonconference schedule was too demanding for a smaller school. Best wishes Coach Hughes!
  12. I respect this post as much as any I have read in a long time! Yes right is right and wrong is wrong!
  13. I'd love to see Coach Colley run the offense with what he brings to the table and his son running the defense. Not a bad idea at all.
  14. That and the "good old boys club" is the game almost everywhere
  15. I agree 100% however I have a hard time pulling for a team that should be playing in 2A but found a way to stay in 1A. Its kinda like David (160 students) playing against Goliath (364 students). I also hope 100% that Rye Cove comes out with the W
