  1. Lee buses rolling into Bluefield.
  2. I think Richlands has mailed it in for the year but, they have shown flashes of a decent running game. It's not fancy with a lot of flash but simply move the yard marker with an occasional big gain. I think that should be the focus for the remaining games on the schedule. The RB runs hard but the o-line tends to lose focus. If they can establish a run game, they have a shot.
  3. What has happened to Richlands is nothing new. They lost the singular binding force and the catalyst for their successful run. Mance is, without question, a good coach but it was his stewardship and steady leadership that built the program. RHS is now going through the exact same thing that GHS did without Carlock, THS over the last 20+ years and many other programs around the area. Success and winning brings more talent to the board. GHS found the right fit and the results are clearly evident. It may take a few years to find or develop the right Sideline General and staff, but it will happen.
  4. Noticed last week that the Dogs were playing different players at D-End. I know that Taylor played the spot and I think that one of the Patterson's played the other side. That combination gives you added speed and agility. They still didn't shed the blocks very well but were far better at pursuing down the line and forcing the plays to the inside.
  5. Planning and designs are complete. Funding has been secured and all three projects will happen. The kickoff dates are correct depending on weather. Richlands and Tazewell are blessed that one is a replacement project and the other is a redesign project. The new field at GHS opens the door for many great things. I personally find no negatives for the proposed projects and if the GHS faithful can execute a little patience, I believe that positive things are on the way.
  6. It'll be decided in the trenches and the most physical team will win. I'd love to see Tazewell win, but I don't think they will be able to out muscle the G-Men for 4 quarters. Graham's front 7 will eventually get pressure on Creasy so the D-backs just need to keep the receivers in front of them. The dogs do have a man child at running back who runs hard and straight. VHigh's D started to avoid heavy contact after the first half. Both teams have tremendous athletes and it'll be fun to watch the individual match ups. There are a lot of unknowns in this game that may be a factor, but I trust what I see, and I see Graham winning by at least 2 TD's.
  7. I just happen to know Captain Stoneman. I've served with him for many years. I consider him to be an outstanding person, a model soldier and a first-rate leader. I wish him well in this new adventure and envision great things under his leadership.
  8. A little hazy in Salem. Temps are perfect but the rain will be here before kickoff.
  9. A lot of athletes running around on the field for appo. Graham looked sluggish and couldn't capitalize on opportunities. Credit to Appomattox. They played like a determined, focused and mature team. Appo defense did an outstanding job of nullifying Lester's legs. Great defensive scheme. GMEN have represented SWVA well. Proud of the coaches and players.
  10. Weather in Roanoke valley is perfect. We'll see what it's like up the road. S perfect day for some football.
  11. Difference of 2 halves looked to be the change at QB. Both are play makers but #15 is a QB. When he's leading the offense it produces results. Maybe it was discipline issue but he didn't play last week either. Thats the poor use of talent. The defense cannot tackle. They are in position to make plays more often than not but get dragged 3-4 yards before a tackle is made if at all. Far to predictable on offense. If you swing a hammer at nail enough you will eventually hit it. Marion's top 2 rushers RB and QB carried the ball an obscene amount. Marion's fourth quarter lapse was more about fatique than the dogs finding something. I'll agree with the lack of effort and desire. Flat is flat. When tazewell scored early in the fourth it appeared they found a desire to win but still were unable to keep Marion on their side of the fifty. Maybe a combination of your assessment and mine?
  12. Tazewell problem. No defense. Unable to tackle. Limited playbook and poor use of athletes. Very talented and quick. In space athletes make plays on offense. Defense will usually be in the right spot but tackling is awful.
  13. Very limited play book against Richlands. No adjustments made in second half. Tazewell attempted to run the ball into the heart of Richlands defense. Didn't find a way to get the athletes into open space with few exceptions. Tazewell defense played with some emotion and were in place to make plays but missed tackles. Race Moir dominated on short downs, extending drives. Tazewells pass D looks to have improved a bit.
  14. Richlands had some run success in the first half. Bluefield found an adjustment and shut it down. LB will need solid O-Line play to establish any run offense. Think I might travel to watch this one.
