I can't believe you continue to speak of high school kids this way.

I'm sure the Blacksburg players wished they were as good as the all world Graham Gmen. Why must you keep putting down the kids from Blacksburg.

I don't have a dog in this fight and frankly, don't care. But I do have someone I know very, very well and see quite often in the Blacksburg School system. Blacksburg High School is currently battling a severe mono outbreak. Severe enough that the New River Health District is involved.
Some things are bigger than football and all "injuries" are not created equally.

I said that motivation was part of coaching in a earlier post this season, and had others posting that times have changed and we cannot expect the coaches to be motivators. I kindly laughed when I read it myself. To me that is a big part of coaching, or at least that's why we hear so much about great coaches being great motivators.

Agreed. Kids health should always be the priority — even if certain people on here seem to think otherwise.

adsi97 reacted to VT W1N in Blacksburg already forfeits to Salem for next week
Roanoke Times picked up the story about Blacksburg forfeiting their Salem game. Since it's a subscription article, I'll just copy the paragraph that gives the official reason. Here it is below:
In an email sent to community members, Blacksburg Principal Chris Stewart cited a high number of injuries that have left a limited number of remaining active players, and that the forfeiture comes out of caution for those athletes.

Hey bird7, give us another one of your great posts about any other team but yours. I just want to be sure I have the right team you're saying negative things about. ( Blacksburg are cowards )

I think Tazewell even without Creasy. I do hope he’s healed up for the playoffs. Tazewell will need him especially if they end up having to play Union. He’s a tough kid and sure has had more than his share of injuries. I hate to see any kid get injured.

If that's the case, then 100% you don't need to play that game. That's a great way to get someones kid hurt when they literally can't come off the field against a team like Salem.

Now here is a post from a man that knows what he's talking about! He explains very well what Tazewell needs to do and does not criticize their team.

And this makes you an expert on other teams! You Giles people need to only post about your team.

Next season when the Dawgs come to Pearisburg make a trip over to the train horn so that we can formally be introduced to each other. We can even take a picture together and post it on here with your permission?

How many games has your team won this year? I wouldn't be talking about Tazewell's team if I was a Giles fan.
Look to your Giles team before mentioning the word pathetic.

adsi97 reacted to Gridiron60 in Tazewell vs Graham
I honestly think Tazewell will have a great game. Graham’s DBs struggled against Pulaski and Cougar receivers were wide open all night long. Tazewell has a heck of a lot better passing game than Pulaski. Contrarily , I think Tazewell will have their work cut out stopping Graham’s run game. We’ll see but I think it’s close. The only caveat is if Tazewell gets down say three scores against Graham, I don't know if they rally or give up. Could be as much mental game as physical game if that happens.

We may have lost two games but both of those teams are top notched and will go far in the playoffs . Did we play well , no . Will we beat Graham , according to the majority on here who have seen Tazewell play and even those who have no clue how good Tazewell is probably not . One thing I will guarantee, these young men will show up and give 150%. They will represent Tazewell well , they will shake hands after the game , and wish Graham good luck the rest of the season ……and as a father of one of the players, who I know will give 200%, I will back them win or lose .
Go Dawgs ……

I don't care who is back! Nothing is certain in this game until the clock hits 0.

It's a coach who believes that he is reinventing the wheel thing.

Coaches need to get the players energy up. Start by replacing the starters that make negative comments maybe attitudes will change.

Folks, I have the pleasure of being around a few athletics programs due to my profession and I see an alarming trend going on locally in the aspect of discipline.
Programs that used to have depth and stability no longer have that and are grasping at straws in regard to talent.
If you hold some of these young men accountable, they will leave the program and never return. Sometimes that will snowball to other players leaving, "Come on man, we don't have to put up with this."
With the lack of numbers, I see coaches afraid to be tough to make players better men because they are scared that their numbers will dwindle or at worst their parents will go and cry to an administrator who will back the parent regardless of the situation just to please.
It's not what it used to be and let's not be too fast to blame the kids because a lot of this starts at home.
Just my observation...

adsi97 reacted to Tru Blue72 in Week 1: Gate City @ Richlands
If Gate City can defend the screen pass they win easy. In Grundy game that's the only thing that worked for the Blues passing game, going deep, or even going to wide outs on short patterns wasn't working except when Grundy's defence missed assignments. Running game is almost non-existant and the line on both sides of the ball is young. I'll always pull for the Blues and hope for a win, but in this year I think the wins will be few and far between. Good luck to all the players and coaches, and to the fans, remember that even if your team looses, the players are trying their best and need your support regardless of what the scoreboard shows at the end iof the game. GO BIG BLUE!!!!

I don't know if he played in the Andrew Lewis game or not. I think they beat Graham and Tazewell by the same score 7-0. I could be wrong about that. Graham had a very good halfback that year too. His name was Joe Grimm and he finished 2nd to Stoney in scoring in the whole state in 1962.

What's up with the Blues being a different team this week. Are the cheerleaders going to play?
