I've heard there are several new coaches on board this year. Surely new blood will help things out, right?

Any changes to the staff? I know there's been lots of complaints about not only the head coach but other members on his staff.

Any news out of Chilhowie. Heard back in December on this forum that Coach Russell retired/resigned. Haven't heard anything else. Maybe I've just missed it.

So who did abingdon pick up this next two year cycle? They trying to get more teams their size or just getting other smaller schools in the other direction?

Wonder how many they have interviewing/interviewed? Seems like they are moving fairly fast...which isn't a bad thing. I haven't even found where the job is officially 'posted' yet. I know Coach Wheeler is retiring but most schools/districts will advertise the job for a couple weeks and go from there.

What did he coach? Was he a coordinator?

Is he a long time assistant there?

Wow, 41 years. Think they'll hire from within or want an outsider for the job?

Radford beat east mont, auburn, and patrick county who have a combine 4 wins...all by east mont. They played a very strong schedule but I do not see them mounting much of a challenge for clintwood.

What are the chances the staff remains next year? Any rumors flying around yet?

Well I'd love to hear those thoughts. I asked about teams running the flex bone triple option because that's what came to mind when I thought of abingdon. It's a great equalizer if used 100% and others schools don't see it often. It's so tough to simulate in practice. Just my two cents. I know atown has lots of issues off the field, I'm just at a loss why a team that's twice the size of half their schedule can't be very competitive each and every year.

I've posted before, I used to live in the Abingdon area, no longer do. Am trying to get back into keeping up with swva football more. I'm curious about what most schools in the area run on offense and defense. From what I've researched already it looks like Abingdon has moved from the spread to more of an I look, not sure about their defense. Va high is wing-t I believe. Again not sure about defense. What about PH? Chilhowie? J.Battle? Anyone else? Please overlook the fact that I am an old Abingdon guy. I just love football and really like to study what others do. Thanks for the insight.

(NOTE: I do not wish to turn this into hate fest of Abingdon) Just glancing at their records year in and year out, what seems to be the issues? Player buy in? Weight room problems? Coaching staff? Parents? Administration?? Again, I do not wish for this to be turned into just a joke about how everyone hates Abingdon and don't turn it into a hate fest on the few Abingdon guys that post religiously on here with their very biases opinions. Just really curious about the school. Thanks
