  1. Rowe belongs on a list.... Made Grundy, well Grundy for lack of a better term.... 2 decades and for atleast the better part of the mid 90's through 2000's Grundy was serving beat downs to most... I am not saying Compton didn't learn from Carlock, but whoever said everything he knows is from someone else is off base... I have the utmost respcet for Compton as a D coordinator he is the personification of Bud Foster at the High School Level.... Loyal and could have went or go somewhere else and be a head coach and enjoy success... Baskin Robbins is up there, so is Colley, Rowe, Turner, I want to see the young guys sustain their success and I have a problem with "Super" teams of transfers for all star teams it's like the HEAT they're champs, but might as well * it for me.
  2. 54-6-1 Scrimmages-A scrimmage is a practice session between two or among three organized teams, or between groups of players representing their respective teams, or between one organized team and a group of players from another organized team which is representing its team in play. 54-6-2 Member schools are prohibited from participating in, or allowing their teams or players representing the teams to participate in, more than two scrimmages in any sport. 54-6-3 Scrimmages are teaching situations at which coaches are expected to interrupt the practice session to provide instruction from time to time. Prior to any scrimmage the coach should outline the basic purposes and aims of the particular scrimmage so that the players may receive the maximum training and practice from the scrimmage. Principals responsible for a scrimmage shall observe the following guidelines, except as permitted in 54-6-4: • No public announcement of the scrimmage should be made and coverage by the news media should be discouraged; • No admission price shall be charged anyone for attendance at a scrimmage; • Officials may be paid travel fees if applicable, but not game fees; • Each school in a scrimmage shall be limited to no more than 1 1/2 times the normal length of the contest (ex. football and basketball, 6 quarters; baseball, 10 1/2 innings); • No scrimmage shall be converted into an actual game situation; and • Except for those rules which have been modified by the provisions of this paragraph, all League rules shall apply to scrimmages. 27-8-1 Out-of-Season Practice Rule - Effective August 1, 2011 all athletic teams are restricted from any organized activities during designated "dead periods." Out-of-season dead periods begin with the first permissible practice date of a sports season as published in the VHSL Calendar and conclude 10 calendar days after that first practice date. A summer "dead period" for all athletic teams shall be week 1 of the NFHS standardized calendar. During dead periods, no coaching, observing or contact between a coach(es) and player(s) may occur in the sport involved. There may be no practice, open facilities, weight training/conditioning, out of season league(s) or member school sponsored clinics/camps. Outside of dead periods, activities may occur on any day except Sundays. Schools, districts and /or regions may impose more restrictive guidelines. VHSL catastrophic insurance is not applicable to any out-of-season activities. What this really means is the VHSL does not want to regulate out of season activities. So they have lifted restrictions. There will be four dead periods where no out-of-season activities can occur. At the beginning of each season and the week of July 1.
  3. Have you been to Council? Kids miss 10 or 15 minutes of 3rd block and are rushed to eat lunch every day and they have to be here to get on the trade school bus at a little after 8 each morning School doesn't start til 8. If they consolidated Council, look for 134 + 188 = K-12 312 kids... probably 250 or so go to Russel county and the Prater kids would be cast back to Riverview or Grundy It's 11 miles to Honaker over big A and the county line for the bus is about 2 miles at the top of Big A ... South/Poplar gap isn't an option. Although no self respecting Councilinian would go to Haysi.... DICKenson county is an option as well for now til they are absorbed by Clintwood .. Although Haysi is at full capacity from what I understand they hadn't had close to 400 in years so lockers, books, and desks, were under staffed and they wouldn't accept transfers unless it was of some benefit in sports
  4. Don't count on schedules coming out til late July. The Ervinton Rebels have been disbanded mid contract year..... So all of the Cumberland (Rye Cove, Thomas Walker, Castlewood, Twin Springs, Eastside) and lets see Twin Valley, Hurley, and a few more will be without a game this year leaving them at 9 and trying to add each other work out dates, and try to sign other schools who are in mid contract and have their home and aways locked up already.... Probably have to go to WV, TN, or KY to get games if they can't get together on the out of district dates Also heard Ervinton stud running back was being courted by James Colley and Clintwood
  5. Haysi will be good, they have Tipton and O'Quinn back and JV won championship and have some solid hold backs coming up off of JV... Coach Robinette has all but promised everyone a road trip to Richmond!
  6. Jarred Coffey of JJ Kelly/ Wise Central
  7. Snodgrass turned it down I'm assuming, b/c Sabo is gone at C-how.... who else turned it down? What was the kats name from Central that got the job? Anyone ever come up with why Sabo is gone?
  8. Outside of football the BDD was wishing for Clintwood too!
  9. was thinking santino with the cobra.... or slaughter with the cobra clutch..... I am a big fan of the figure 4 though!
  10. Why is Sabo out? Snodgrass applied at PH last week.
  11. Sure didn't bud, feel free to come to Council and see what we're applying.
  12. Rebel nation has 5 interviews set up for head coach... Snodgrass from C-howie, Ben Jackson from Tazewell (by way of Council) Who has the power of attorney over there Malibu Mark Palmer? Prinicipal and or School board?
  13. I just heard that Coach Atkins is out at East Side and Damron formerly of St. Paul is in..... I thought Damron was already AD at Eastside? I think they went by senority so Atkins got the job last year based on experience. Someone said that Atkins got an email that said they "wanted the program to go in a different direction" Kind of funny in one year what direction can a program go after consolidating and 2.... all the talent was at Castlewood on the St. Paul side...... rumor is they're going to put Atkins in as girls Coach, not sure on that one, but am sure on the boys side......
  14. Cheyenne Osborne or Michael Paul Berry legends in Scott and Wise County.....
