This week, I cannot wait until I go to my very first "Bluefield Beavers" football game. My cousin friend has enlightened me with some interesting stories such as back in the 2000's, a school called Weirton got in a huge fist fight involving Weirton's head football coach and one of his own players. One of my cousin's friends who he attends college with at Bluefield State from Beckley chatted that Bluefield or Graham used to greet visitors by throwing beer bottles, bricks, rocks, and what not. I could tell that he was exaggerating a little however I can recall a Catholic school in Pennsylvania doing that at a game I attended in Maryland. I have also heard stories from my cousin's friend that Bluefield used to trash other schools facilities after losing a game? Anyway, in spite of these rumors, I'm sure the Bluefield game will be a great game with great football, food, and fellowship. I cannot wait until Friday afternoon.

Is that the same Pulaski County next to Virginia Tech? They had hostility with Bluefield instead of Graham? What happened? Another thing too, is there anything to do in the Bluefield area (attractions, shopping, entertainment)? Is there any bars or night clubs like in Blacksburg or Washington, DC?

Not knowning much about Virginia & West Virginia football compared to high school football in Washington, all I know is that Virginia high school programs have done exceptionally well in terms of producing college and professional athletes. West Virginia, I do not know much about. Back two years ago, I attended a game at Charles Town, WV near DC, and it was okay however not that interesting. Hopefully, this game will be interesting.

My cousin who is a Bluefield, WV native chatted about the upcoming game between Bluefield, WV & Graham next Friday. My cousin tells me that this rivalry is so intense that there have been riots or really huge fights with the two sides (VA & WV). I'm from DC and will be attending Virginia Tech this fall. My cousin wants me to come to the game, however I need to know how intense is it first before I decide.

According to a cousin of mine that lives in Blacksburg, he's heard that Carroll County & Pulaski County are thinking about trying to enter into the Mountain Empire or the Three Rivers District because of travel concerns. That means two division IV schools in a league of division I & II schools. Strange? Right?

Who does Bluefield have to scrimmage this year?

I do not know how far Point Pleasant wants to travel, but I heard that there's a AAA high school in Virginia called Halifax County (60 miles south of Roanoke) that is looking for a scrimmage. Maybe Point Pleasant could hook up with Halifax halfway (possibly Charleston, or somewhere near Bluefield) for a scrimmage.
