BLUEFIELD — What can Brown do for Bluefield College?

He can kick and he can punt, all in the same game. He will do just that tonight when the Rams host Pikeville in the season opener at Mitchell Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. Admission is $5.

“I am ecstatic,†said Ben Brown, a three-sport standout at Richlands, who attended Liberty University and Southwest Virginia Community College last school year. “It has been two full years since I played in a game and suited up. I am excited to get back in it.â€

Ex-Abingdon star will be the punter for Virginia Tech. Probably be booming a few in the "Battle at Bristol"

No double dip for Joey Slye. He'll just kick. Mitchell Ludwig is the punter. Stroman and Greene on KR. Carroll the backup PR to Stroman.

Roanoke Times....

Joe Barton (William Byrd) and freshman Brian Mann (Giles) will start at running back. The starting offensive line will include tackle Adam Vaught (Blacksburg) and freshman guard Jordan Patti (Staunton River).

Caleb Spurlin has made the travel roster at Appalachian State as a recruited walk-on.  He could be anything from 3rd down specialist to being redshirted, he isn't certain yet.

On an interesting note, he started out listed as an H-Back, was moved to TE and after knocking two kids out with concussions, the defensive coordinator called him into his office, gave him a new jersey number and moved him to DL.

Resurrecting this older thread.

Quinton Morton-Robertson played 20 minutes in his first game at Radford University.  He finished with 3 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds.  Miles Jones finished with 7 points in 8 minutes.

Zac Ervin had 9 points, 1 assist and 1 steal in 15 minutes in his first college action at Elon.

Mac McClung finished with 16 points in the first game of the 2019-2020 season.

Four time VHSL state champion Josh Spurlin from Galax lost his first two matches of his wrestling career at Appalachian State.  Knowing Josh, he will be extra motivated to work hard, learn and get better.  He will be fine!

Caleb Spurlin continues to be a huge factor in the DL rotation for the Appalachian State football team.  He has 21 tackles on the season.

Zamir Echeagaray from Galax is starting on the DL at Ferrum.
