Richlands was demolished, but it was 14-7 with 2 minutes to go in the first half.

They had momentum, too. Just scored to make it a 1 score game and all you need to do is hold them and head to halftime and we got the ball back. Instead we gave up a KO touchdown and then a turnover for another TD and trailed by 21. The game was lost in that 2 minute span.

Goochland.

Giles actually lost by the fewest number of points (31) of any of their opponents.

We played right with them for almost the first half then a pick 6 by appo opened the flood gates and it got ugly quick lol

No offense but it was over before it started just like all of their 5 playoff games...team was head and shoulders above everyone in 2A

They were better, but I don’t think head and shoulders. People are quick to forget, Cody Howie wasn’t able to play that game due to the ejection against Stuart’s draft. And anyone who watched Richlands play more than a couple of times know 2 things: Howie was the biggest playmaker on that team offensively and on special teams and he also really opened things up for the other receivers because of the attention he attracted from the defense.

Head and shoulders better than ANY 2A team last year

With Howie they beat Appomattox?

Along with that, those guys have some pretty interesting views on that game.

Right.

I wonder what statement that was.

Also, a lot of the posters on preps have some interesting views on a lot of things.

If anyone thinks Cody Howie made any difference in the outcome of this game, he/she probably shouldn't be operating heavy machinery.  At best, he’s the difference in 42-7 and 42-14.

No. They wouldn't have beat them. But I don't think it would have been a 35 point blowout. Howie was the one player Richlands had that could keep up with the speed that Appo had. That makes a difference. But no, Appo still would have won by 14-17.

One player isn’t making that much of a difference.  Sorry.

Howie wasn't even the best WR on that team!

Would not have made a difference Appo had to much talent and way to much speed for anyone in D2 last year and probably would have beaten Blacksburg.  You have to recognize how good a team that was last year.  The year before Richlands had enough talent to hang with them, and should have won the game, but not last year.

if you are going to make the comparison then you have to say that Ball was the best receiver because he was on the field at the end of the season and did not let childish emotions cost him his shot to try to make a play. That being said Ball was a clutch receiver Howie was fast but unreliable as a receiver because he dropped as many as he caught.  Not knocking the kid just an honest observation.
