This could be ugly. With Graham’s loss to Grundy tonight it’s becoming more clear that six teams in the M7 could contend in the SWD. Yet, 4 SWD teams have to make it.

Why do we not have a points system like football for other sports? This year it’s the M7, next year it could be the SWD. Why are we not rewarding the better teams?

Jesus you never stop beating this drum do you?

BTW Grundy has two of the best players in all of SWVA...Looney would be a star at any 2A or 3A school

Grundy lost on a neutral floor to Lee who will at best finish third in the M7 and could finish as low as fifth.

Grundy led the whole game, and played the entire second half down a starter

Grundy is better this season than last. As of right now they're probably the best division 1 team in the area. Eastside is kind of struggling. Burton seems to have consistency issues. They may be the team to beat in division 1. Btw they outplayed Lee for 3 quarters, led 47-40 going into the 4th, blew it and loss 55-54 in the last seconds. They're definitely one of the better teams in SWVA this season.

Grundy lost on a buzzer beater to a very much improved Lee squad. Had they beat Lee, they could have competed for that tournament's title.

Trolls gonna troll, y’know?

Losers gone lose, y’know?

All I want is a fair system. Why not expand the football system to other sports. In baseball the SWD is going to get screwed in basketball the M7 is getting screwed.

Time for the principals and ADs to get off their rears and come up with a system. It’s a win-win.

These out of district games now mean diddly squat. With some point system every game means something, you may get a better gate and you’d have a much fairer seeding process.

Currently, the whole thing is biased. It’s good enough for football but we won’t waste the time doing it for other sports.

Call it trolling, I call it wanting what’s right. When VA High gets seeded below some sorry M7 baseball team that will be as wrong as this is.

What you're seeming to forget is all those years the SWD had to reserve one of their 4 playoff spots in region play for Grayson County if they were to qualify. The Mountain 7 never had to give up a playoff spot in the matter because Grayson would drop to 1A before it came up as the M7's turn to relinquish said spot.

So... in the grand scheme of things, you could classify this as payback.

Quit whining, deal with it, and move on.

At what point is enough enough? Can you point to a year a M7 team got in that shouldn’t have and a SWD team was let out?

Why are you all opposed to expanding the football system? You cool with letting inferior teams in?

And you would have the same log jam that we have currently...

No log jam at all at the end of the season, as the regular season champion advances automatically, and the tournament champion advances, unless the regular season champion wins the tournament, then it is the tournament runner-up.

Nostalgia does not equal logic.

The current system allows for the best games no matter how down a district is perceived.

How is it the best games if a better team is left out in favor of an inferior one? Not commenting about the M7 or SWD, but in general, wouldn't the better system be the eight best teams?

It would be but not a 4 team bracket with 1st and 2nd place from each district

I agree the eight team bracket has more chance of a Cinderella run and adds the extra element of a team that "isn't supposed to be there" making a run and advancing to the state tournament, but the top two from each district wasn't a bad system in terms of rewarding the best teams.
