swva_havok_fan 1,259 Report Share Posted March 2, 2020 As Kevin Mays has noted on Twitter, it looks as if for the second consecutive year, if the Region C & D champs in classes 1 & 2 win their quarterfinals, then for the second straight year the Region D champ will have to travel to the C champ for the semifinal. That doesn't seem quite fair now does it? Hokie101

Have no clue... my guess is everyone from Roanoke and east whined to the VHSL about having to travel to UVa-Wise.
#BBN 128 Report Share Posted March 2, 2020 What happens if Gate City and Central Boys both win their quarterfinal game, and Union and Gate Girls win their quarterfinal game? Do they play each other again, or do they cross the brackets after the quarterfinal games? If they do play each other again, will it be the higher seeds choice of where the game will be played? They don’t cross until the championship so if both GC and Wise advance, GC would be the home team and likely play at VA High again. Same for the girls, Union would be home team and likely play at UVA-Wise. #BBN

To keep from traveling to Region C, Blue Devil fans need to pull for Central to beat Radford at their desired locale on Friday so that we both can play each other for a fifth time here. When it comes to postseason play, Region C does it fairly well. No one has district tournaments. All the teams make it no matter what. The odds of meeting someone for a fifth time go down. Maybe three times at most. With the way it was this year you would probably have matchups like this: 1. Gate City vs 16. Bye 8. Lebanon vs 9. Ridgeview 4. Richlands vs 13 Bye 5. Union vs Battle 2. Graham vs 15. Bye 7. Virginia High vs 10. Marion 3. Central vs 14. Bye 6. Lee vs 11. Tazewell Might work out the same... might not May not be a viable solution would be a different avenue to try though. Wouldn’t have to play tournaments for seeding. Use the regular season as the base for points.
Beamerball 566 Report Share Posted March 2, 2020 Region C has district tournaments the same. The Three Rivers didn't have one this year. Don't know if that was planned or because of the postponements late into the season...I do know they had a short tournament last season (semifinals and championship only). https://www.swvasports.com/ipb/index.php?/topic/38718-conference-tournaments/#comments https://www.swvasports.com/ipb/index.php?/topic/37660-va-western-district-tournaments-boys/
