Yea not sure on a parade for winning your 2nd game of season to improve your record to 2 and 1!!!!!

They broke a 16 year losing streak. Iā€™m willing to give them a stroll down Main Street, lol. I definitely wonā€™t be cheering them on week after next though. I donā€™t want to see another parade, lol.

Meant a lot to these kids and program. Beating a team that has had the upper hand for that long of time is a great accomplishment. Let these kids, coaches and parents enjoy it. I see no issues takingĀ time out to show support and letting all of the people involved be a part of a parade, big deal if itā€™sĀ after the third game. Theyā€™ll remember this.

small victories for a school that has had so few. let them enjoy

The great thing is that Tazewell has always had this same community support, even in the very lean years. WhenĀ thisĀ senior class was starting as freshmen 4 years ago the fan baseĀ seen the potential and they were finally able to show it.
Ā

Today had been building since the missed extra point in the 08 region championship game. Obviously to the outside world this rivalryĀ didnā€™t seem that important since it has been so one sided over the last 20 years but this is stillĀ the game that Tazewell fans circle at the beginning of the season. After coming so close in 2008, to the revolving door of coaches before Coach Harris, to the devastating injuries of last season, trust me when I say this win means the world to them.Ā Ā The whole community got over ā€œthe humpā€ today. If you canā€™t be happy for the kids and the whole Tazewell community after being on the other end of this for so long then thatĀ says a lot about you.Ā

Iā€™m 100% happy for them. Just seems a little toĀ early in the season. I do understand the Ā  Ā point Ā but the deliver can be taken out of context.

It wasn't just about the team.Ā  It was about the community supporting the team the only way they could.Ā  They can't go to the games and watch their own grandkids, cousins and friends!!Ā Ā More communities should show the same level of support for their kids.Ā  It wasn't a "parade".Ā  It was more like an escort through town.Ā  Find something else to criticize, because making fun of parent's, grandparent's and siblings supporting their team is pretty low.Ā  The town wanted the kids to know that they support them, even if they can't be there.Ā  Anybody who questions this needs to re-think what they are trying to say.Ā  Nobody on the team asked for a "parade".Ā  Not one player or coach expected or knew about it ahead of time.Ā  It was a decision made by the community and a damn good one, if you ask me.Ā

Cmon man, you can see how someone on the outside might think it's a little corny or silly. I'm not saying they shouldn't do it and I'm seriously happy for the kids who have worked so hard, but it's not often you see a team having a parade from a regular season game.

It reminds me of the way Wise celebrated when they ended PVs streak in 99 so maybe I'm being biased lol

Maybe, but I don't think too many people in Tazewell cares if it was corny to other people.Ā  It was a nice gesture by the people in the town.Ā  Everybody in town had been saying all week that they wish they could be there.Ā  This was their way of showing support, let's not make more of it then what it was.Ā  Not like they had circus clowns and floats.

"Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog".Ā  The Tazewell community has shown up in force to support their kids in good and bad times.Ā

Some may think its corny or a little silly that Union gets escorted to the field every single game.Ā  Ā I would rather call it good community support.Ā

For all the people that is stating that was to far, this and that. The kids had no ideal that they were gonna be escorted back through town. To be a matter of fact, Iā€™m the one that messaged surrounding fire Departments asking if they wanted to escort them back to school as Iā€™m on the fire department. ā€œTheyā€Ā didnā€™t do it, ā€œtheyā€ had no part in it. I think if everyone else had a fan base like Tazewell theyā€™d understand. When us Tazewell fans say we ā€œbleed greenā€ we mean it. Oh, and for everyone saying itā€™s about time after 18 years, this and that. If living inĀ the past is what youā€™re about then live onšŸ˜‚ but the presence says Richlands streak is over! Go Dawgs!

Hey if someone wants to call it silly or corny, you'll get no argument from me. But that kinda stuff isn't for me, it's for the kids, so whether I think it's corny or not it doesn't matter if the kids enjoy it. I'm not trying to make fun of or down any of the kids at all.

I saw the original post before you edited it, it'll be our secret lol.Ā

Nothing wrong with what I said.Ā  I'll say it again. I said it is pitiful that people would criticize and find fault with a community supporting their team.Ā  I just decided to stop arguing the point.Ā Its not worth it.Ā  Why are you trying to make it sound like I said something bad?Ā  Dont make this personal.Ā  Ive said my peace and Im done with it.Ā  Deleted it, because I don't want to perpetuate this ridiculous banter any longer. If you have something to say to me personally, there is a pm feature on here.Ā  This whole thread needa to go away if you ask me.
