I decided to attempt to keep track of Class 1/2 on the west side. Probably should have picked a different year! haha Trying to keep track of all the ppd/ccd games has been nuts. Thanks to @VHSLhelper for his "moves" thread! Also, due to the amount of teams playing private schools and way out of their region, more teams to keep track of. Don't shoot me if these aren't 100% accurate, I'm sure I've missed some. If you see a mistake, let me know.

Are you sure they are going by power points this year?  I know Region D 2 has discussed having "Top 4" from each district, as of last week.  I don't know if that is definite, but principals and athletic directors did discuss.

Didn't we learn anything from the spring season what confusion and chaos that brings???

I know it was discussed, and is a possibility!  I agree, would much rather have the points!  In Region D1, surprised at Patrick Henry at 9 - they may be the best team in that Region.  Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I have no clue what they are doing in Reg D. I kind of like the "Top 4", but don't think it's fair if districts aren't even. However, regardless of what Reg D does, if semifinals are determined by VHSL like they have in the past, powerpoints will determine hosting site.

Since some of you are more knowledgeable about powerpoints than myself. If a team is leading in powerpoints or close to the top and has a  game canceled by their opponent due to Covid protocol, how much of an impact will that have ultimately if they can’t find a replacement game or can’t make up the original game ? I only ask because of GW game getting canceled next week. Hopefully, we find a replacement game.

Well not having that games means Graham would divide by 9 instead of 10, but not having that game also limits their potential to earn points.  The system is designed to balance that out to an extent.

Grundy picking up Blacksburg and winning was very beneficial. Central picking up Christiansburg and losing probably didn't help them as much, probably would have been better off with 9 games and thus dividing by 9.

The way I hear it the deal within Region 2D was basically unless everyone gets 10 games in the region will take top 4 from each district.  I've not seen that anywhere official, just the same story that was told by 2 different coaches.

First, it depends on if it's a "no contest" or a FFT.

Then it depends on how many wins the other team has.

You are correct. For some reason I thought they played Chilhowie, and gave Chilhowie the win. I updated the points to reflect that.

They play each other this Friday. Based on what has transpired for both teams this season, your scenario will likely play out, but who knows.

Top 4 would be fine in 2D except Central is clearly a playoff deserving team.  If they take the top 2 in each district, it's Graham and VH clearly deserving along with the three 2A teams from the M7 clearly deserving in Central, Union, Ridgeview.  Assuming it's the top2 in the M7, one of those three schools is getting a raw deal if not allowed in the playoffs.  No offense to VH which is greatly improved and has truly turned the corner, but I still think Central, Union, Ridgeview all beat VH in a head to head contest........which is why a top 4 scenario this year is truly going to screw over one of the M7 schools.  Not only that, all three of those M7 schools are probably top 7 to top 8 in the state of Virginia.  It would be shameful for example, Central, probably the 7th to 8th best 2A team in Virginia to somehow not be allowed in the playoffs.

Think the discussion was top 4 in each district, so all should be good if they do that.

Which then means one team gets left out in SW and two in M7.  So again harder to miss playoffs than to make them.  But I do agree with earlier statements as one M7 team will get screwed if you had less.

Yep! Maybe 2 is too few, 4 is too many, and 3 is too hard because of the bye that would be needed. In reality, top 4 ensures that the #1 seeds get a "tune-up" game for the 1st round while the 2 and 3 seeds battle their hearts out. I'd rather include a "bad" team than leave out a good one.
