I agree especially if Huff comes back to Union over the summer. Graham loses several talented Seniors who will be hard to replace but then again, I’ve said that before and somehow the GMen just reload. I am excited to see Gabe Lilly’s Senior year and the development of Cambel Fix and a few others. I’m also interested to see what those incoming freshmen bring to the table. Quote
Union_Fan Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 With everything Graham is losing and has returning, I expect the defense to take a slight hit, but the offense to be better. Overall, they will be good enough for another state championship run, unless a surprise team pops up in A or B. Quote

They are also losing Brody Sharpe who was a starter before being injured late in the season, Isaiah Pruett Saunders, who contributed on special teams and as a backup RB. Kevin Jones who only played his senior season at Graham, after transferring from Blacksburg, but he contributed quite a bit at Defensive End also. There will be a lot of roles to fill for Graham this upcoming year. I feel that Kaden Banks, A.J. Bradshaw, Deion Cooper will step up in place of Floyd, Edwards and B. Graham, but they are still young. I expect G Palmer to have a big year at running back, Fix at receiver and Malachi Elick to step into a bigger role at receiver also. It'll be hard to replace Hill and Isabelle on that defensive side of the ball. Most of the line returns, so we shall see how the G-men fare. Quote

swva_havok_fan Posted January 23 Report Posted January 23 Sullivan County missed the entire week after winter break, went back last week and now has been off all of this week so far, even though the roads were bad really only Monday morning. I learned on Facebook this week that Sullivan County closes due to extreme cold temperatures also not just snow/ice. Also there's a rule in Tennessee that if schools are closed due to weather then no extracurricular activities (namely sports events) can't happen either. So if Sullivan County doesn't go back tomorrow then the D-B and West Ridge basketball games tomorrow night will get postponed. Even though roads are perfectly fine. Quote

SXSW Posted February 27 Report Posted February 27 My question is will Huff being back even matter, with the talent that has ran through that school to not have accomplished anything close to winning a title is almost criminal! Quote

They’ve had realistically only 2 chances 15 and 17. Defensive coaching was the problem in 15 Appomattox in 17. Now Graham is becoming Appomattox so not happening in the next 5 years either Quote

I honestly think Union has a shot of going deep next year if Huff returns and maybe even if he doesn’t. Quote

I would argue that Ridgeview was the second best team in 2A in 2022 and the only team that gave Graham problems offensively. If the RV DC would have made an adjustment to the wildcat that Region Championship game would have been a lot more interesting. Quote
