Looks like VHSL has RV over Union for number two! So this means RV does get GC again, right!IMG_0499.thumb.jpeg.c82d967fea1d26a880e06e7f1759e1f3.jpeg

Probably just because R comes before U.

I'd be ok with it just to avoid yet another rematch.

Official VHSL bracket has GC to Union.

Where can one find the official VHSL bracket?

I see that someone already answered you.

Odd that one of the most unreliable HS football websites is the Official VHSL bracket site.

I deal with 5 states for the website. Virginia is by far and away the worst for high school football. Kentucky far and away the best.

I like Ky's setup. TN isn't bad either. Like you said, Va...not the best.

The worst refs I've seen are in SW VA. Can't even count 12 players on the field for 3 straight plays.

We're not talking about quality. We're talking about deliberate cheating in KY when an out of state team comes in.

I can only comment on Middlesboro and Letcher Co, but stories abound from other locations.

You can add Breathitt Co. they’re also on their A game with blatant cheating and don’t seem to care who knows

Here's my thoughts on officials. It is a hard job. The officials are trying to do a good job when they call penalties or not. They make some good judgement calls. They make some bad judgement calls. It is not easy. HOWEVER. Way too many officials are not in good enough shape to move in such a way that an official needs to be able to move. Many are just too fat so they are often out of position (especially in WV). The real problem I see is game administration. It is as if it requires a team meeting on every other penalty. Penalty yards are sometimes not marked correctly. Rules are not enforced correctly. Way too much dead time. Lazy officiating. They almost always mark the spot on a hash so they don't ever have to measure. If it is third down and 10 on the  20 and the runner gains 9.5 yards almost every time they are going to mark it on the 30 and give the team a first down. Or if the runner gains 10.5 they are going to mark it exactly on the 30 or 31 instead of the 30.5. Many crews are now saying the runner went down in bounds so they can roll the clock even when the runner's progress was not stopped in bounds. The head referee will start the clock after a first down long before the chain crew is set except at the end of the game.

I think you are spot on with that.  So many games, ours and others I talk to for theirs, the issue of not know how to apply penalty yardage or like you said having to have a conference over it.

I will agree with a lot of that.  The marking of spots on a yard line is something that has trickled down from higher levels.  I dont mind starting a series on a hash after a kick but it has gotten ridiculous at not only the HS level but the college level as well which.

I agree with almost everything you said except starting the clock after a first down.  The clock doesn't start when the chains are set, it's when the ball is spotted.
