Regardless of the outcome, Union did not look good against Gate City. 
 

If Bunch doesn’t play, Union will get blown out. If he does and is healthy, I think it’s a toss up that will tilt to Ridgeview.

I still don’t think RV will score a lot… but union won’t either. If Ridgeview is ready for Chandler to run the ball this time, it’s going to be a very long day for the bears unless they figure out a pass game this week. I think Travis will have a wrinkle but it won’t be enough.

Chandler reminds me a lot of Forbes that graduated from Central Woodstock last year. Both like human bowling balls or mini- bulldozers. If Ridgeview allow him to get chunks of 4 or 5 yards consistently, it will be hard for Ridgeview to control the game & allow  Union to eat up the clock. I’m leaning more of 21-14 type game. I don’t see a blowout unless one of the teams simply implodes. If Bunch is back that further complicates things for Ridgeview.

Our 3 plays aren’t cutting it for the playoffs.  Gate City didn’t even want to be there last night and could of won if they had a half decent showing

He’s probably done for season hamstring injuries are usually weeks and a tear months

The RV team playing the last three weeks will win this game. This version is playing complete football. Being that playing Union has had a mental effect on RV in the past is concerning however. Having the ability to know its win or go home is the mental change RV needs to win this. Not to mean there is a little revenge football being played right now by the Wolfpack. Gonna be a great game to watch and I’m sure it will be packed.

Attendance is down, people are really fed up with the way things are going. 

Players can only run the plays they are told to run. No matter how talented you are, when all 11 of the defenders know where the ball is going it's very difficult to overcome.

Union will have a better chance beating Graham than RV because every time the Bears have played a rematch, they previously won, they do exactly what they did in the 1st game. The other team makes adjustments to what beat them the 1st time, but Union seemingly doesn't take that into consideration.

The only thing that might save the Bears will be the cold weather. Hopefully, it makes it harder to throw/catch the ball.

Watched taz/rv game,  one score game starting the 4th, taz missed several opportunities. 50/50 rv played well but taz matched it with bonehead plays to put themselves in a tight spot, repeatedly.  Friday will be interesting.

Game plan for Union : Chandler , right , left , up the middle, Bostic goes back to pass scrambles , yep that’s our playbook , no pass plays up the seem to say…..oh yeah tight end or back or across the middle or screen 5-10 passes will work I promise because the linebackers are stepping up to tackle Chandler

The game will be won by the team who actually wants to be there. At the moment I don’t think that team is Union.

Easy to guess direction of plays also if the 3 receivers are split out to the right it's either Chandler left or Bostic keeper to the right or a bubble screen.  Since they've cut down on screens you have a 50\50 chance to guess the play everytime

RV needs to move away from their over reliance of 2x2 sets here a bit and look for ways to get Honaker the ball.  It would be nice to see them come out with a definitive game plan that doesn't allow Union DC to just play the same way he did last time.  Throw to Deel out of the backfield, stop the deep/double-coverage shots, employ a TE on occasion and....please.....designed QB power and draws.

Agree with all of this, but this game will come down to the RV defense. If they don’t get Union off the field on 3rd down they have no chance. If they do they have a better than 50% chance of winning. That’s what cost them the last few games against Union.

The Wolfpack must have some big plays in this one to win. As boring as it is to watch, Union can bully teams that are not as physical. I’m just not sure about Ridgeview only seeing the first game. Those dropped balls would have made a difference, but I saw the Bears line pushing around the pack all game. Unless there a huge injuries, I’m going with Union in a much closer game. I think the difference will be a Ridgeview turnover on a passing play (tipped ball, strip, or interception).

As frustrating as it seems, Union’s losses have been against either similar or superior teams. Ridgeview is very good, but their MO seems to be losing to teams more physical. They are more equipped to compete with other teams such as Abingdon because of their diversity than Union, but struggle in a slugfest. 
In my opinion, either team from the other side of the bracket is more dangerous to those outside the region.

Unless the rest of 2A is down I’d be surprised to see a local team win.  Graham has the defense to maybe pull it off but Poquoson seems to be the favorites.

That’s my feeling as well. VHS has speed enough to be a wildcard, but Graham is my pick because of their defense to represent 2D. As you said, Poquoson is the most likely champion.

I like the way Ridgeview is playing right now, they are very crisp on offense! Their D-line is playing well to, but until you beat Union at the Park, I will go with Union. The last time they played Ridgeview was scared to death to take on Bostic and the receivers alligator armed the throws from O'Quinn because they didn't want to get hurt...Union 18-Ridgeview 14.

Ridgeview doesn't have a deep threat and only have one WR with legit speed (a true 4.6 or better) and he is a slot type.  I still don't understand their WR assignments and alignments.  The Baker kid is a slot yet they don't play him inside and off the line nor use him in motion.  They use bigger slower WRs as slots and try to run them down the seam. I think it was wise to not take too many deep shots as they just don't have that 6' WR that can jump and catch like they used to.  I'm of the believe that they could motion Baker and use him underneath and intermediate to great effect......but they just don't do it.  For the record, Baker is faster than Bostic (according to head to head track times). I also don't understand not using him in the running game more.  Honaker has the best hands of the WRs but they don't play him all the time.  They could isolate Honaker and Hill in the curl/flat on OLBs and do well all game.   But, I'm betting more deep shot fades to the 5'8" slot, play the 6'1" slower WR in the slot and won't have the WR with the best hands on the field 50% of the time.  If those three things hold true, Union by 10-14.
