Status of SWVA Standouts in College

Anybody have any updates on recent players from SWVA in college?  2021-2024

I know that I have missed some players.  Keep adding them.  I would love to see how they are doing.

 

Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw Sophomore - WR

(VA Tech) DIV 1 FBS

Has played in several games.  4 rushes for 73 yards.  1 catch for 9 yards

 

Cassius Harris - Freshman - WR

(Richmond) DIV 1 FCS

Has played in a few games and has a couple of receptions and a tackle.

 

Brody Meadows - Sophomore- OL

(VA Tech) DIV 1 FBS

 

Has played in several games including some starts and appears to be doing well.  Gonna be a big time player.

 

Carson Jenkins - Sophomore- WR/PR

(William and Mary) DIV 1 FCS

Has played in several games with multiple starts.  Was recently named the CAA Special Teams player of the week after getting 109 yards on two returns in a single game including a 90 yard punt return for a TD. 

 

Sage Webb - Junior - WR

(University of Pennsylvania) DIV 1 Ivy League 

Has played in one game against Yale in 2024.

 

Marcell Baylor - Freshman -WR

(VA Tech) DIV 1 FBS

Don’t see any stats for him on VA Tech’s website.

 

Brandon Beavers - WR

(Emory and Henry) DIV 2

I know he signed with E&H, but can’t find him on their roster this year.

 

Cannon Hill - 

(Emory and Henry) DIV 2

I know he signed with E&H, but can’t find him on their roster this year.

 

Tyson Tester - Junior - LB

(UVA Wise) DIV 2

 

Has played in multiple games with some starts with 9 solo tackles and 13 assisted tackles.

 

Peyton McClanahan - Sophomore - TE

(UVA Wise) DIV 2

Has played in multiple games with some starts with 11 receptions for 110 yards and 2 tackles.

Sage Webb (Richlands) is still waiting for a chance to play at Penn.

Carson Jenkins (Gate City) has a few carries @ W&M, but has a TD on a 90 yd punt ret.

Cassius Harris (Tazewell) only has 2 catches at Richmond.

Chancellor Harris (Tazewell) has some numbers @ Morehead - 20 yds rushing/game

Ian Scammell (Grundy) rushes about 50 ypg @ Wise and is their leading off. scorer w/ 4 TDs

Graham's Gage Sawyers is a redshirt freshman and plays LB for Old Dominion. He has 1 tackle for the year and also plays special teams.

I think a few locals from Graham & Bluefield play at Bluefield State like the Hairston kid.  I believe GMen Connor Roberts plays for E & H & Gage Sawyer at  ODU.

AJ Ashworth - Galax - Old Dominion LB. He's seen action in most games as a true freshman. Mostly special teams.

 

Eli Gillespie - Grayson - Charleston Southern WR - Hasn't seen action to my knowledge.

 

Landen Clark - Radford - Elon QB - recently elevated to 2nd string. Has played in each of the past 3 games.

 

Ian Ashworth - Galax - Ferrum S - Started all 10 games at Safety. Has 67

tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions.

 

Brady Dalton - Carroll County - UVA Wise TE - Played in 7 games. 10 catches for 75 yards and a TD.

 

Cole Pickett - Galax - VT TE - special teams player.

Marcel Baylor was dismissed from VT last year.

Hill is back at Ridgeview and was the Wolfpack Middle School coach this past season and will probably be on varsity soon.  Beavers is transferring to UVA-Wise and is sitting out this season. He will have four years eligibility.  Emory had a significant amount of turnover after the HC and his staff left.  I believe Connor Roberts may still be there but the other Graham kid (Wadkins) transferred out.

I know UVa-Wise is still not doing so well on the field on Saturdays still, and Emory is on the upswing...

But, I really like this new UVa-Wise coach.  He's at a different high school stadium in the area every Friday night.  At least he cares about the talent in this area.

UVA Wise will be much better going forward. They now have a coach that isn’t universally loathed like Damron.
