Thats hard but by the same token, there’s probably a lot of other teams that wish they could say they made it to the state semifinals three years in a row. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 Difference in Strasburg game was a Poquoson turnover at its own 9. Graham should actually go back to the deep ball against Strasburg. They don't play teams that throw it and seldom see a wide set/formation offensively with 3 or 4 wide. Strasburg is Union good or even possibly better on the line of scrimmage on both sides. Their weakness is the secondary. They are slow and Graham will have some guys running wide open. jeffro Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 So watching Strausburg- Offensively very disciplined run heavy team. There must be 3' min. between the linemen. 2 tight end sets. A LOT of misdirection. The Rbs are out of the backfield fast with a lot of wide pitches then quick hits up the middle. They play everyone in the box and forces defenses to adjust to their style of play and rarely pass the ball. Basically run it down your throat style of offense. Can't judge on YouTube but didn't look overly fast but the discipline makes up for it. Defensively very strong up front and no way a passing Qb sits back there waiting for routes to develop. Quick hitter will be successful Again, i don't think they can match speed of our wide out. i don't like the WR screen but it looks as if this would be very successful. Also, Poquoson did well with off tackle runs. the wildcat may have success as well. Both teams have big adjustments to make to stop the other. If Graham (snake) has a game plan to slow down this running game Graham wins--IF Link to Strausburg vs Poquoson game...turn volume down, after a couple of minutes youll know why Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

Give those boys props though against Glenvar. They dug deep & showed great character to come back each time they were down. Mountain Football 1 Quote
jeffro Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 Yeah, time and time again it looked like we lost the momentum only to come back. This teams never gives up and really doesnt panic but digs deeper. this is the edge i believe that they will have over Strausburg to win it all! Gridiron60 1 Quote

Union_Fan Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 Best I could find on Strasburg/Poquoson. Each had 15 1st downs. Poquoson had 232 yards of offense and 3 turnovers. Strasburg had 237 yards of offense with at least 190 of that on the ground. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

jeffro Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 If Graham can get a lead, it will be difficult for a time eating running game team. But Strausburg is impressive and will be tough to stop. Comes down Grahams big play makers doing their thing. How does the younger and less experienced Strausburg handle the pressure with the game winding down and every down critical. Graham is good at this. Another advantage for Graham is the coaching side - Big plus in big games I'm going with the "Defense wins Championships" Graham 21-14 Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 Simple offense, with some twists to keep you honest, ran very well. Anxious to see how they match up on defense. One score game could go either way. jeffro 1 Quote

Never seen an offense quite like it. The Linebackers will need to be able to react very quickly to which way the running play is going and be able to defend all the way to the sidelines, same goes for the secondary. The way they line up with the linemen spaced out and the running backs out wide behind the QB forces the defense to spread out. I think Graham will need to keep the safety back (not deep), but in case they do throw it, it always seems to catch the other team off-guard. The safety will need to be able to recognize when one of those running backs or a Tight end releases and goes downfield for the pass. Very tricky to defend, they will nickel and dime you to death. Obviously Poquoson held them to 14 points, but both teams were run heavy and that limited possessions. Graham32 1 Quote
