Jags52 Posted May 8 Report Posted May 8 I didn’t see anything in the paper about him leaving but the job is posted on the Wythe county website Quote
redtiger Posted May 11 Report Posted May 11 Seems like there's a lot of turnover at FC, what's the issue? Quote

swva_fan Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 The Fort Chiswell Pioneers are looking for a new head football coach. Zane Quesenberry has stepped down as their football coach. He will be leaving for the Wilmington, NC area to teach and be an assistant football coach at North Brunswick HS. His two years at Fort Chiswell produced a 6-16 record. He made the playoffs his first year at Fort Chiswell High School. https://rodneysportsnow.com/fort-chiswell-head-coach-steps-down/ Quote
KW23 Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 They play rural retreat week 1 like they have the last few seasons? Quote

rjhall71 Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 What is mind-boggling to me is that since Stephen James left in 2013 after nine seasons, only one coach has made it past two seasons, and he only made it one more. They've had six coaches in the past eleven seasons. ehcwasp 1 Quote

It takes a back seat to basketball and baseball and it really the only school in the area where that is the case. You could argue VA High is the same but the difference is Paterson has done a good job there keeping that program relevant and having success where FC just hasn’t had a coach stay there long enough to do that. I think there is a lot of non football issues at FC. You have two major interstates running through Max Meadows which is great for local businesses because of the amount of people that come through but when you have that many people coming there that also means there are people coming through transporting things like drugs that end up in the community which at the end of the day hurts the extra curricular activities. I have always thought FC has athletes but it’s going to take a special person to take that over whose ego is not too big because and I don’t feel like football will ever be #1 there, is willing to put the time in and stay for a while even when things get rough, and really loves those kids and is willing to go that extra mile to keep them out of trouble and develop them off the football field rjhall71 1 Quote
Pickett Posted May 14 Report Posted May 14 Rural Retreat while not the same turnover as Fort Chiswell has had a number of coaches @ 20 years.....Dean Rhea, Chris Moore, Chris Akers, Jamey Hughes and now Hensley again......I may be missing one? Quote

I don't recall seeing them having post season success but I don't keep up with Region C that much. Quote

GW has only had 4 since 2000, I believe (Pruitt, Russell, Ingo, Harner). FC going on 9, RR going on 7 in same period of time Quote
