No, there’s only 2 scheduling conflicts out of the 5 home games.

Thats not out of the ordinary. Graham played two Thursday games last season at Mitchell Stadium (Galax & Pulaski Co.) due to scheduling conflict.

Fwiw, Richlands plays away games on 9/12 & 10/24 so there would be an open stadium on the only two days there would be scheduling conflicts in 2025.

I gotcha…I’d still say given an option most coaches would opt for Saturday rather than a short week & play on Thursday but I’m not sure Tony Palmer will get to decide that or if that’s his preference.

Thanks for clarifying. So I wonder if Richlands & Graham will also get a rubberized track in the future.

Dr. Stacy shared quotes to rubberize the Tazewell High School track. He advised his goal was to rubberize all three tracks, but at this time he asked permission to rubberize the one centrally located, which would be Tazewell High School. The other two high schools could participate in sanctioned state meets and not have to travel so far. Dr. Stacy recommended the Board approve the quote from Baseline Sports Construction in the amount of $201,718.00. Vice-Chair Robinson questioned when the work at the Richlands High School track would be finished. Dr. Stacy advised it should be finished soon, weather permitting.

Vice-Chair Robinson made a motion to rubberize the Tazewell High School track with the new grade rubber surface for $201,718 with Baseline Sports Construction. Mrs. Whittington seconded the motion, and the Board unanimously approved.

Vhigh, Marion, and Lebanon at Graham on Saturday afternoon. Union game at Tazewell. And Tazewell game at Richlands is my understanding. Things could change though. And yes they're going to play at Graham with lawn chairs. And I think it's great. Congratulations city of Bluefield.......you played yourself.

I blame the Board of Supervisors and their pettiness.  People of Bluefield, Va have sat on their asses for too long and let the B O S. treat them like 2nd class citizens for far too lóng.  Demand better for your kids and vote their asses out.

In your opinion - what is the Board of Supervisors doing wrong in this situation? I keep seeing the blame being tossed on them but I’m wondering specifics.

I myself am not going to specifically blame them but in turn I will ask another question.  In the past 15-20 years, what have they done besides spend (waste) funds on projects and determine that they can't manage money so now they need an advance on their funds in June instead of being able to make it last until Dec.

I know of one representative for sure that I hope gets voted out.  Was glad to see him get in there to oust the previous one but he is worthless in my book.  I won't put specifics on here to try and remain civil and not call someone out specifically but will be glad to tell anyone in private messages.

Graham needs their own place.  They have the chance to make a cozy, right-sized stadium and have it be theirs.  The hell with Mitchell.....I always hated playing there....just didn't feel right....like a neutral game.  They can make it work using Tazewell's field, especially if they will consider the occasional Thursday game. If I'm Tony and I have a "gimme" game I'd consider a Thursday night game.

They could get Graham's field serviceable fairly quickly in terms of brining in some bleachers and a couple of food trucks and portable restrooms.

Not from me .....

But you’re the one blaming them?

If they are going something wrong enough for you to call for their constituents to vote them out, wouldn’t this be a good time to educate everyone on the situation?

The people that would be voting for said person are educated. You are in another district. Pretty simple.

Well, we’re about to see how serious Tazewell County is about bringing Graham’s stadium to “completion”. It’s a ridiculous premise to expect them to play at Tazewell for “years to come” but they paid Bluefield WV for decades to play there which seemed equally ridiculous.

Does someone have current pics of Graham's field?  I'm curious as to the current state it is in.  I don't see how you can't have at least a functioning place to host games for the '26 or '27 season.

I don’t have pictures, but attended a track meet there in the spring and the field itself is very nice.
Your earlier suggestions would be a good fit in a pinch for a game with a small attendance on a Saturday afternoon with good weather.

Well, that sucks for Graham kids.  City of Bluefield could have offered the traditional two year contract that’s always been offered but chose greed over kids. I back the decision by TCPS but it’s the Graham kids that are getting $hit on because adults chose to have a pissing match. In the meantime it’s rumored Tazewell gets a rubberized track which Graham asked but was denied but I digress.

Why play the Tazewell game at Richlands? If it’s Graham’s home game this year just have Tazewell on visitor’s side for that game & Graham sit on the home side at Tazewell? Graham gets gate & concessions that night. It seems dumb to make both teams go to Richlands but that’s just me.

This is incredible.  Greed at its finest.

Does one supervisor get to decide the decisions for the entire board? If that answer is “no”, then I’d like to be educated.

The field is completed and looks great!  Track looks great as well.  Just need bleachers.  Heck I’ll cook hotdogs on a grill for folks if someone would help!

Here’s a video that was posted as they were finishing up on the field. I’ll try to find an aerial photo. I seem to remember someone flying a drone overhead & posting it.

I bet you would. I'm just not going to do it for you either.

On Tazewell County Va Board of Supervisors page there is a form to request funding.  Hmmm!

I'm going to request 5.4 million dollars for improvements to Tazewell High School and bleachers at Graham High School. Think they will award it to me?

To be fair, include Richlands in that request. All schools should receive equal treatment.
