I’m not 100% about the dates but it should go something like this: Tuesday is Graham @ v high and Marion @ Tazewell then Thursday is winner of Marion/Taz vs Lebanon and Winner of V High/ Graham against Richlands both at Lebanon

Can anybody explain how the M7 does their seeding for region. I know how SWD does it and was curious if they do it a different way because of Abingdon

Abingdon gets thrown out and the top Class 2 team is the #1 seed.

Yes I know that but how are the rest of the seeds decided? Is where the teams finished in the regular season going to be their seeds for region play? Outside of #1 seed for SWD the tournament is what determines seeding for region tourney. Like since central just got beat by GC does that mean central is done?

SWD Softball:

Quarterfinals:

6 Virginia High @ 3 Marion - Tuesday at 5pm

5 Graham @ 4 Tazewell - Tuesday at 5pm

 

Semifinals:

VHS/Marion winner vs 2 Richlands - 5pm Thursday at Lebanon

GHS/THS winner vs Lebanon - 7pm Thursday at Lebanon 

 

3rd place game Saturday at 5pm

at Lebanon. 

Championship Saturday at 7pm at Lebanon. 
 

Lebanon and Richlands have clinched regional bids. Lebanon has clinched the SWD 1 seed in region play.

Marion played us, Richlands, pretty tough last game. They have some good hitters. But i think regardless of wat happens. We cant get lower than 4th for region. But I think our girls will pull through and should get 2nd, which will likely give us Central or Union. We've split with both those teams this year. We just gotta get consistent and hot at the right time

Richlands second on both baseball and softball. Surprised with baseball, from earlier posts I figured they would be battling for last seed in the district. Good to see them both do well. Go blues.

Regular season finish is most of it and district tourney is a small part of it too.  For instance, on the softball side, Union was the 3rd seed for region going into the district tournament.  If they win the tournament, then they would jump Central for the 2 seed.

Do u have anything official showing that? Not saying you're wrong, but everything I've found shows that the regular season district winner is automatically the 1 seed for region. Then the district tournament seeds everything else. Which proves correct from last year I think. Cuz in softball last year, Richlands won the regular season district and we were 1 seed. Marion won the district tournament and were the 2 seed.

So what’s the seeding for the SWD for 2D tourney? I figure Leb 1, who’s 2-3-4?

 

M7 is Battle Union Wise and GC in some order. I know JB and Union 1-2.

1. Lebanon and then the rest of it is decided tomorrow. The winner of v high/ Richlands will be the 2 and the loser will play Taz to determine the 3 and 4 (assuming Lebanon beats tazewell)

Outside of Lebanon, how does VHS Richlands and Tazwell compare to Union Wise and GC? 
 

if you were Union, who would you want to see be the three and get in round one and who scares you the most?

VHS has an ace in Foy who can beat anyone but they can’t hit.

Tazewell has a kid with really good stuff but a little wild, they can’t hit either though.

Richlands the best hitting team of the three, but they don’t have a true ace the level of the other two. 
 

Union probably best team of the 6 I would put the other five all about same league

From what I seen from the Union and battle tie breaker I’d say Union would not want to get V High. Foy is better than the Hill kid and he kept them in check for most of the game. 
 

It is also a fairly decent chance that Va High does end up being the 3 seed. Foy won’t be available to throw against Richlands and Whitt is available but he threw 3 pitches shy of the maximum he could while remaining available, still not going to have his best stuff

Foy is the kid who already beat Battle once this year right? 
 

Would they for sure throw him against Union and then not potentially have him in a win and make a state tourney game next round? Yes he is and unfortunately no. Apparently the region tourney is played Thursday, Tuesday, and Saturday so your ace could throw all 3 games (which is not good for Lebanon). Even if the schedule was more reasonable I don’t think they’d risk throwing Whitt against them. Considering how similar the hill kid is to Foy

 

And if they make it to the semi’s they’ll face either Lebanon or central  and Leb has seen foy twice already

Doesn’t this mean Leb could throw Phillips 3 times? Wouldn’t that be good for them? He’s the best pitcher in the region.
