Weatherman Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 What's up the road for our teams? Who makes a run at a state title? John Battle baseball appears to be in position to make a run, but anything can happen in single elimination. Lebanon is finding ways to win, and is experienced at the state level, can they keep it going? What about softball? Stud pitchers seem to rule at the state level. Eastside has two D-1 pitchers, is this their year? Burton has a good pitcher too, but are inexperienced at the state level. Can either Central or Lee make a run? How good is Eastside baseball? Quote

Doesn’t matter how good eastside is when they likely will play Auburn first round. Quote

Battle and Lebanon are going to be tough outs. Should be a great game tonight. Eastside does have two D-1 pitchers, but one has been hurt. I think she is back to pitching now, but I don't know how effective she is. Burton does have a good pitcher, but I don't think they are good enough at the plate. The winner of Lee/Central tonight will have a better shot than the loser. Loser will more than likely have to travel to Appomattox. They have two D1 commits that pitch for them. Both juniors. It should be a good game tonight. Can Central shake the fact that Lee has thumped them the past two times they played? Can Lee overcome how difficult it is to beat a good team three times in a row? 1inStripes Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 In softball the state title should come down to Eastside, Burton and Auburn. Not sure if Auburn has picked up any pitching this year but their top of their lineup is stout. Eastside has gotten hot at the right time at the plate and no one has a combo of pitchers at their disposal that they have. Frazier has done a great job at Burton in his first year. Mooney is tough with her speed and being a lefty. When she gets the river she eats teams alive. The Cumberland was a step above all other districts in 1A across the state. GW has gotten hot lately but I don’t think they can compete with those 3. Buffalo Gap graduated their pitcher and best hitter last year. They were tough but typically the East is behind the West in 1A. Quote
Unchained Posted June 5 Report Posted June 5 Lebanon was up 4-0 but now Battle leads 6-4 in the 5th. Quote

Fairlawncat Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 All 8 have a near equal chance and are that close. No dominate team that is lights out with 2 pitchers that nobody can hit. Buckingham and John Battle would be my picks, but a team like Lebanon, Appomattox, King William and Poquoson could easily win it. If I had a gun to my head, I would bet on Buckingham (barely) over JSB, but rooting for Battle. Great program and tradition at JSB. Quote
Stelley Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 Just heard that poquoson moved their game to Monday? Not exactly sure they can do that. Not exactly a large difference in the chance of rain between Monday and Tuesday. Leb and Appomattox should also move their game to Monday so they have their aces available as well. Quote

Yes, needs to be a level playing field for all. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted June 8 Report Posted June 8 Poquoson moved their game up because Buckingham moved its game up first. BC vs King William is tomorrow, so Poquoson vs Strasburg moved theirs up as a response to Buckingham. Quote
