Lebanon has a lot of talent returning and Tazewell has a big, strong line that has been working hard. They will be huge . Probably average 280+ on the line and in better shape then last season. KW23 Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 No way rural retreat finishes last in 1d that always belongs to Northwood. I think PH is 1..2 probably Honaker 3.chilhowie 4. Rural retreat 5. Holston graduated a ton then 6.northwood. 2,3,4 are all fairly even imo. Be interesting to see if ph and rr new head coaches change things up. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote
1inStripes Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 I don't expect RR to finish last in the Hogo either. But also if healthy it wouldn't surprise me if Northwood gets out of the Hogo cellar this year also. Quote
Jags52 Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 Thoughts on the Hogo 1a: Rural Retreat has a ton of speed coming back just check the state track meet and a new coach that should be able to use it. If they can replace what they lost up front they can be dangerous 1b: Chilhowie has a lot of guys returning that have been playing for 3 or 4 years on varsity. Don’t let their 3-7 record last year fool you 5 losses by 2 scores or less. Flip those games and it’s a new season 3: Honaker probably has the best player in the district in the younger Musick brother and the Freshman QB is talented but they will be very young and under a new head coach for the 3 season 4: PH seems to be Jeb and the Rebelets I don’t think they have much after him. Breaking in 5 new guys up front with a new coach could be an issue 5: Northwood will go as far as Waddle goes I’m not sure they have much after him 6: Holston is only here because I question if they will have enough to play. A team of 25 last year with 12 seniors is concerning but I hope they can finish the year Quote
SwvaOG Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 I’ll stick to 2A as I don’t watch as many 1A games. M7 1)Union 2) Abingdon 3) Ridgeview 4) Gate City 5) Lee 6) Central 7) Battle Southwest: 1) Graham 2) Richlands 3) Tazewell 4)Lebanon 5) Va High 6) Marion Quote

swvafbrespect Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 Hogo 1. Rural Retreat nor even close 2-5 toss up Chilowie has good skill returning but lost some key OL, Honaker very young better get them this year, Northwood has 8 returners on both sides of the ball, PH lost everyone but Stuart and with a brand new OL and breaking in a QB behind could break the Rebs 10 year run, 6 Holston lost 14 srs of a team of 24 and jv team has won 1 game in 2 years Quote
1inStripes Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 PH should return one starter to the OL but that is all I believe. Quote

What are your thoughts there? Is the QB/Wrs enough to get them above Tazewell with solid line play? Lebanon with an Elite QB? Not knocking your thoughts, just genuinely curious to learn more about what they have going on. Edited June 30 by UnionGuy2017 Spelling Quote

Not from the standpoint of Richlands improving because I believe the Blues will be significantly better. Lebanon and Tazewell are intriguing because of Lebanon’s proven skill positions and Tazewell’s offensive line. I know Virginia High returns some speed, but don’t know if Keshawn Smith returns or can be replaced. Quote
techfan Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 I think you all might be a little too high on Tazewell this group of seniors never won much of anything growing up and skill positions will be lacking I feel like BigWinners 1 Quote

Leb brings back 8 of 11 on offense from a team that hung 50 on the Blues in the first half at Ernie Hicks last year. Probably won’t be a 50 point game this year but I’m not sure Richlands can improve that much. Quote

Yeah Graham is at the top, too many skilled players (young guys coming in will be fun to watch) and the line will be nearly as dominant as last year on both sides of the ball. Replacing last year's seniors will be task. but someone always steps up. Lebanon should be very good as well. Reese played Graham tough just had no line and now has lost his top go to guy. Richlands Qb did a good job moving the ball against Graham. Stacking the line with the Qb run got him some yards. If he has support around him, he may have pretty good year. Tazewell, i dont know, they seem to have issues in the big games and now their top offense weapon is gone. What dos Va. high having coming back? 1. Graham 2,Lebanon 3 tie Tazewell- Richlands 4. Va High 5-no one 6-Marion Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

Hoping to see an increase in screen plays to Jessee. Also odd how he doesn’t get much traction on here. Definitely not the fastest rb in our area but definitely one of if not the strongest. Kid is a sophomore and already has two power 4 offers. Quote

I agree here and with Tigerman. Lebanon should be very good. While still not the same, my Devon Johnson comparison with size and D1 offers is proving to not be too far fetched. All in all, I think each of district teams mentioned should be better. I just wonder if anyone can knock off Graham. Each team can and had limited success, but it seems they get better as the season goes on. It was evident to me against Lebanon and others, when they wanted to line up and run the ball, they couldn’t be stopped. Quote
