I finished it within 24hrs of it being delivered…. I just could not put it down. I believe it was near 300 pages. It was amazing. The history it tells about other teams not just Giles. It talks about Narrows, Graham, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Grundy and many others. Definitely worth the read! My dad was mentioned in the book several times as he was a senior when Steve Ragsdale took over in 1978. Learned things about my dad and my uncle who played on the 1980 state team that I hadn’t known.

Absolutely amazing book! It should open a lot of people's eyes about what one man did for a program, team, and community. Steve was a once in a lifetime coach. Book left with me a lot of questions that im just too young to remember. Really nostalgic and sad to see everything he did to bring the Spartans to life has reverted back to tje Giles football he took over. Takes a special coach to completely change an entire program like he did but takes dedication to sustain it after he leaves. Great book, Giles fan or not, definitely get a copy and read it
