Chaminade with a 99 yard drive capped off by a 6 yard TD on a jet sweep by 4 star Jasen Lopez after a 35 yard catch by 4 star Dennarius Gray and a 30yard run by 5 star RB Derrick Cooper (Texas commit). Yeah, Chaminade has talent.

Just got home. West Boca played them a lot tougher than I thought they would. If not for their fumbled snap at the end of the first half on the Chaminade 12, this was probably a 12-6 game at the half, and if not for the strip and score, it's a 12-6 game late. West Boca pushed across a TD with under a minute to go to cut it to 18-10 with a minute to go, but couldn't recover the onside kick. I thought WB's Miami (FL) commit, Javian Mallory was a better back than Derrick Cooper (several rank him as the #1 RB in the nation) tonight. Mallory is a compact 6'0 200, gets his pads down and can't be arm tackled. He had over a hundred yards. Cooper had the one nice run and had a 75 yard TD wiped off by a hold, but to be fair, the hold was a complete take down that enabled him to get around the edge and into the secondary. He has some wheels though and ran away from an athletic WB secondary.

I watched this game last night with about 8:00 minutes to go in the 2nd qtr.  Both are powerhouses so I didn't see a blowout game for either team.  After the half, Milton's QB had taken such a beating playing RB in the QB slot, it wasn't going to turn out well for them.  I was not impressed with Milton's game plan or the coaching.  Baker did reasonably well in the 1st half with his running.  In the 2nd half the beatdown begin to wear on him, plus his injured throwing hand.  With D-1 players  smothering you with their D, and no other offense but him, not a good scenario.   Buford kept Milton in the game with their penalties.  I think 150 yds or so.  With a little over a minute to go, Milton with the ball in their red zone, the same game plan by their coach, let the injured QB run the ball.  CRAZY!!!   They need to change things, or they will be fortunate to make the playoffs, unless it's a powder puff schedule.

Friday Night Lights! Class 4A Norland Vikings from Miami at the Class 7A Vero Beach Indians. Compared to last night’s brutal heat, it’s positively fabulous this evening. It’s 89 degrees with a heat index of 99, but there’s a steady 14 MPH breeze out of the Bahamas. Norland is always a threat in 4A and Vero is loaded with talent with 2 guys committed to UCLA, one to UK, one to FSU and sophomore QB Wonderful “Champ” Monds, is arguably the best sophomore QB in the country and has offers from everyone. He had offers from UF, Miami (FL), UCF, FSU AND USF before he ever took a snap in a varsity game.
