Dodgers Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Scrimmages are just that. With that being said does anyone have any results or thoughts from the scrimmages you watched this week? Quote
SWVAgridiron Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Giles vs Hidden Valley: Giles pretty much dominated on both sides scoring 5 tds to 0 however HV didn’t look that great. Still a good feeling though to take it to a 3A Roanoke school. I liked seeing the new coaching staff trying different things while also sticking with the single wing. Kids seem to be playing a little more physical and enthusiastic. Playing James Monroe next week will be a tougher challenge so we should definitely know more. Gridiron60 and Dodgers 2 Quote
UnionGuy2017 Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 I thought Union starters looked good after a couple personnel adjustments. Wasn’t necessarily thrilled with the lack of effort on a few instances, but the coaches jumped on that immediately. Quote
onewarrior2 Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Either Lebanon has greatly improved or Central is wayyyy down….may be one or the other, may be both. Lebanon 7 scores over Central 2 didnt really pay attention to when the teams put in their 2s jv was scoreless on both ends Dodgers 1 Quote
BBHoops_18 Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 There’s already a thread about scrimmages Quote

Pioneer Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 Virginia High was beating Sullivan East 42 to 21 late in the 3rd before JV came in. Not sure of the final. Quote

1inStripes Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 They graduated a 4/5th of the OL I think and most of the production outside of Stewart I think. Stewart is a great back but you have to have blocking to create some gaps and PH had to replace some major parts up front. wdr31 1 Quote

They have been solid over the last 10 years. Stewart is a great back but I agree you have to be pretty good up front. wdr31 1 Quote
FBDevotee Posted August 16, 2025 Report Posted August 16, 2025 My reporter said Union looked pretty good against Elizabethton; scoring at least three touchdowns during the scrimmage. The sophomore running back will add to the veteran backfield. Union has some really big and experienced linemen. The senior quarterback seemed really fast. Union has a deep team and plenty of players - 55 on varsity roster. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

Looks like a night and day difference from a season ago. He should have a great year. Chandler looks like he has lost a little weight (in a good way) and he was moving EXTREMELY quick. Lomax, #3, ran the ball extremely well too. Quote

Talking from the point of someone from Richlands who watched all of Eastside and maybe all of the first string against Thomas Walker... Very meh. And very unable to tell you anything player specific because we decided not to wear numbers for some reason. Our offensive line is undersized and it shows, they were getting killed and it caused the quarterback to panic a ton. He always checked down to the running back which resulted in multiple interception (3 in a row I believe) and multiple hurries, but I don't believe he got sacked. So, positive maybe? Once they got settled in though, they were able to get some decent plays in, but nothing dazzling. On defense, gonna need a TON of work in the secondary. Burnt like toast most plays, but the front 7 kept a lot of pressure and made sure we didn't have to relay on them a lot. Overall, I think Richlands wins a game or two that they weren't suppose to, but definitely not post season bound. Thing that surprised me was Patrick Henry came out fired up and was holding their own against a much bigger Volunteer crew. But numbers caught up with them. Volunteer had more players than Richlands, Eastside, and Thomas Walker combined, I believe. Quote

They have a regular season game next week against Va High. Good luck deciphering film. Quote
