Talk about a trap with Graham coming up. Anytime you play up there's a talent gap. Injuries have really derailed the Blazers the last few years, but Jeremy Jenkins is an outstanding coach (his season where he lost his son the QB would have been special as the team the year before was pretty good). The biggest improvement comes from week 1 to week 2, and after getting thumped 30-0 by Volunteer, last night vs a strong South Greene team (much better than Volunteer) they were down 24-17 late, so this tells me he's made tons of adjustments. We had better be very careful here. I think we have too many weapons, but we had better play very well. I think the excitement of the home opener pumps us up and we get a 35-21 win.

Boone is definitely better than the 30-0 they took from Volunteer, although Volunteer is improved aswell.

Spacing due to the passing game will in my opinion be the biggest help for the Bears. They have lacked that in the past, but they have it now. I look for Chandler, Bostic and Wharton to have big games Offensively.

IMO, the strength of Unions team is the DL. Anderson, Polier, Fred and company will dominate this game.

Bears Roll.

A few years ago, this would be a must see game, but for 1200 students, Boone is just not that good right now.

Was really hoping they would be back to form to get the Bears ready for Graham.

Theyll be better than Lee, but I don't see this game being competitive unless Union makes a lot of mistakes. Maybe they'll throw some wrinkles in that Union isn't accustomed to seeing to help with the rest of the season.

I am looking forward to seeing their (players, coaches, fans) reaction to coming to The Park.  I love Casey Goetz's sly grin when he asks DB's coach if he's ever been to Bullitt Park.

Talked about this when it happened. Will be interested to see his reaction after 😀

Boone was clubbed 30-0 by Volunteer in the opener, and lost by 15 to a really pedestrian South Green(e) team. Volunteer has outscored their first two opponents by 80-0. I'd feel safe in saying that Volunteer has never done that in the entire history of their program. Has Volunteer improved? No doubt. How much? Really hard to say. Boone is 0-2 and Claiborne (can you believe that Dobyns-Bennett is on their schedule? I guess Unaka wasn't available for the Indians) is just awful, being clubbed by Grainger (the high school, not the industrial equipment company), who historically has been bad to mediocre. My guess is that Boone will be an upgrade over Lee, but IMO Union will still handle them by 3-4 TD.

Jeff County head coach has taken over at Volunteer and doing so he brought some of his players with him, still Volunteer isn't the best but they're improved from what they once were. Union will destroy Boone, if you remove Sevier County from their conference Union and Graham would win that class 5 conference over Tn High, TN HiGH right now isn't what they use to be

Volunteer has struggled so much over their history. It's nice to see them having some success. Looking at their schedule, I think they might be able to pull off 7 or even 8 wins.

Volunteer is improved, but it is still Volunteer. No disrespect to the Falcons. I am sure their fan base is cautiously optimistic. But it’s hard to tell just how improved they really are. They went 0-10 in 2023 and 2024. And got blown out by some bad teams.

We (North Greene) play South Greene on the 12th. Our program has been improving the past few seasons. We seldom beat in-county teams in football. But we beat a very young West Greene team Thursday. Right now I’d say if you want to beat West Greene then this year is the year to do it. We won’t beat Hampton this year. Unfortunately.

Anyway, I say Union beats Daniel Boone 38-18?

One thing I’ll be looking for from Union will be getting the pass protection back to where it needs to be. It was decent against Betsy, and absolutely Dynamite against Alleghany, but against Lee, Bostic was running for his life and taking some pretty good hits. Caused a lot of off target throws.

I'm looking for improvement on special teams. The kicking is solid, but our KR/PR coverage leaves something to be desired.

It's never been the best. In the beginning, I think it had to do with the coach, but when he left the program it didn't improve that much.

I think it boils down to having too many inexperienced players on return coverage to give starters a break.

You put your best players on O and D, but not special teams?? It's like they are an afterthought, and that lack of emphasis has cost Union games over the years.
