I agree that Lebanon should beat v high but they are the final team in that three game stretch of Union Graham and them. As long as they’re semi healthy I would favor the pioneers by 2 scores. But that’s why I say they’d be happy to take one of those three because it’s not very likely they’ll be very healthy by that point

This is what I have for 2D.

Only difference is Tazewell with 53 total instead of 54 and an average of 10.6

For Tazewell I have  (First # is points for loss - 2nd # is 1 point for each win by the opposing team. (They also got 2 rider points for Giles and Grayson Co. for playing down a Division)..... 

Pulaski  County  8 +2

Grayson  County 4 + 2 + 2

Union  6 + 6

Giles  4 + 2 + 5

Virginia  6 + 6

You are correct. I'm going to need to double check my sources for getting scores. I saw Pulaski beating Christiansburg. It was the opposite. Fixed mine. Thanks!

Graham has to win out and catch some breaks. If that happens, they could possibly snag #4, but it's looking like #5 is the more realistic finish.

It was a joke regarding Joey Carroll's comments last year in the Bristol Herald Courier.

 

“Any time there are two schools located in close proximity to one another, there will always be bad blood between the two,” Carroll said. “Union and Lee High are no exception. The large number of transfers who are Lee County kids who end up playing for Union has only added fuel to the fire.” 

"Union coach Travis Turner declined to comment and engage in a war of words when asked for a reaction to the talk of transfers going from Lee to his squad, but his team made a statement in the preseason as the Bears will once again be one of the VHSL’s top teams in Class 2."

There's also a bunch of examples of programs close to each other where they both excel. DB/GC, Bluefield/Graham, Paintsville/Johnson Central are some examples I can think of.

Is Paintsville/Johnson Central in the same division?

Usually when two programs excel and are close, you have a talent rich area and/or they don’t compete in the same league or division. For example here, the Greater Bluefield/Princeton area is stacked with enough talent to go around, but there are situational differences in not competing directly in the postseason. Sometimes things may not be going well at one place, so it’s easy to move down the road to an easier path. 
DB/GC is a good example where the most absolute talent is at D-B, but the competition is usually less at GC.

Start with 1 and go down the list until tiebreaker is broken

1. Head to Head. 2. Common Opponents. 3. If one of the two teams played a 9 game schedule, they get the top seed over the 10 game schedule team. 4. Average power rating for Virginia only schools that were played. 5. Average power rating of All opponents. 

If it comes down to Glenvar and Union, number 4 above will settle it.

That's a good question. I'm just going to assume they'll use the tie breakers listed in the VHSL handbook because I think both regions are using power points.

So, in the case of Union and Glenvar. Number 4 above would be the first application and they would take the average power rating of All ten of Glenvars opponents because all 10 are in Va and they would take the average power rating of 9 of Unions opponents and throw out Daniel Boone.

So I’m not sure it happens, but it definitely helps if 1 school is in the smallest classification. It doesn’t take too much talent to make a huge impact at that level. Again, if JC has and abundance of talent, it’s easy for kids to transfer to Paintsville and make an immediate impact. I’d like to think, although not as talent rich as Bluefield, there is sometimes enough for Richlands and Honaker to be successful (or Lebanon for Russell Countians). Usually, it’s one at the expense of the other nowadays.
