I have no idea here. It’s almost impossible to judge how good RV is going by their schedule, but what little I’ve seen they are a solid team. Deel is a tough runner to corral and they seem competent and execute well. Im not sure how well they sling it, it’ll be tough to beat Union solely running the ball.

Ah Chris is a great guy, I think being down an official really made it a lot more stressful.  The back judge has to make that call and he whiffed. Hard to imagine many others letting that go.

Very physical game tonight, which will pay dividends as its battle-tested experience, but a quick turnaround Thursday night game. RV really hasn't been tested so it will be hard to tell how they hold up vs the Bears. Hopefully the Bears won't come out sluggish with a short week. I do like Union to win this 28-14.

As a Pack fan I feel like Unions experience will be the difference in this game.  I just hope both teams come out of this game healthy.   I think Bostic and Chandler will be too much on offense and if we don’t block Anderson on Defense we will have a long night.   
 

I believe Brockoff will have to complete some passes early to open up the running game for Deel for RV to be successful running the ball.

Union by 21 points or 3 touchdowns is the going "rate" against top 10 Class 2 schools in VA this year. Beat Graham by 21. Beat GC by 21. Why change up now? Ridgeview isnt beating Union. They are going to get mauled on the Line of Scrimmage just like Alleghany did, just like Graham did, and just like GC did. Credit Gate City for holding out in the first half and neutralizing or playing close with the Bears, but the scary part is that 2nd half for Union shows how dangerous they are when they bring their A game.

I think this is Unions closest game in their 10 and 0 regular season and they win by 17 points and when all said and done, Unions closest game in their entire 10 game regular season will be this game with RV. Abingdon and Lebanon won't be within 21 points, they arent as good up front as RV.. RV has enough athletes, offense and size up front to keep Union possibly under 21 points in margin.

Chris is a good guy but far too often he tries to make the game all about him. He did the same thing last night. The argument between him and a couple fans happened after he called a very, very soft unsportsmanlike on Wharton after his long Pass TD. It was awful.

I think Ridgeview will come and play extremely physical with us. I can see this one playing out similar to the GC game with Union wearing them down and pulling away as the game goes on.

He didn’t make the call IIRC, it was the same back judge who let the targeting go.

Im pretty sure it wasn’t Chris who actually threw the flag but it was Chris who got into it with a couple fans, one he knows very very well lol. Again I really like Chris and I think his games are always fairly called, if usually called a little tight. When Poole went down it seemed like the crew got a little on edge.  Id have to go back and watch to be 100% but I think Chris just came in late to confirm the call. It was because of a spike but I didn’t think the kid spiked the ball in any really demonstrative manner.

I was thinking it was after the hit on Maddox, but he got lost in talking to the crowd with the game going on in front of him. lol

We made some noise after the no call hit, the GC player wasn’t dirty or anything at all it was just a high hit on a player in a defenseless position.  On the tape, did the helmets hit? That’s a huge indicator, I couldn’t tell in real time. 
 

What got the crowd riled up was call in the unsportsmanlike after not making that call. The point was brought up that player safety is rightfully the biggest problem in high school ball but a borderline hit was let go and then they call, IMO, a very soft unsportsmanlike. 
 

Overall, the stripes did a pretty good job being a man down. Penalties were close to even and I didn’t see any game changing calls. 
 

I’ve had clashes with officials before and may have been very politely suggested I should maybe find an exit by an official in my younger days lol but last night was extremely tame comparatively. 
FTR, I was not involved in  any of the arguing, I was trying to get cooler heads to prevail as I know both guys.

Back to RV, what looks to be the biggest advantage for either team? I know RV runs it well and seems to be good at the LOS but I’ve not seen much at all. From my limited exposure, they may match up better outside with the Bear athletes but I’m not sure they’re as stout as GC at the LOS. GC had some big ole hosses and were physical, they’re gonna be a handful for anyone.

I think RV starter wise may match up well. The issue is depth. Which is developing but will take time.

I am a RV fan and I, like a lot of people on this forum have been around a lot of football in my life. I tell you, this RV team is really good and very undervalued by a lot, well most, not from Dickenson County. With that being said, if RV shows up and its status quo intimidation/big game atmosphere jitters, this game will be like in season game last year with big union win. If the RV we all know shows up well coached and disciplined to the basics of the game like we all know they can be, RV will win. I just hope they are as prepared mentally as they can be. They have the talent and ability, just need to be coached up with motivation and readiness.

Watching them on nfhs, it'll be a decent game. I don't think anyone under- values rv. It's more to do with the lack of resistance on that first half of the schedule but it seems the same for everyone this season.  The out of conference games, one decent match-up, bad teams are terrible.

For that to happen, RV would have to get a quick start like they got against Paintsville. They were up 14-0 in the first few minutes. That is possible though. They have as good a quick strike offense as they ever had.
