I agree. Eastside looks like the clear favorites in the West but so did RC last season, then Honaker the year before. I just don’t think 1D sees much physicality until they play a team from 1C but Eastside may very well get to represent in Salem

Agreed. At diff points, I’ve thought Grayson, Giles, GW, Eastside, RR, and RC. Id be shocked if it’s not one of those teams. 1D will be Eastside or RC. No real shot it’s not one of them. 
 

EDIT but I gotta point out RR, as I was reminded they had Eastside beat but gave it away. They’re def alive to win 1D.

I think Honaker and Chilhowie are worthy of some consideration also. 
 

And I believe Rural Retreat is the most damgerous of us all if the Penwright kid is healthy. That’s the only thing I’m not sure about yet.

I used to do some serious smallmouth fishing there back in the day. I have a cousin who back then was a ringer for John Schneider. Volunteer blanks Chuckey Doak 70-0. Normally I say show some class but it’s my understanding that Volunteer had starters out second half. And considering that Volunteer went 1-9 in 2022, 0-10 in 23, and 0-10, last year. Volunteer is usually the team getting beat 70-0. My wife is a Volunteer graduate and is excited.

I think they play Grayson since it is a home game and admin will want 1 more gate.  After that I think they shut it down for year.   In regards to Fort they should be better than they are.  Dont really know what they are trying to do scheme wise but still have alot of size and athletic looking kids.

Don't know a lot about the Ft. Chiswell situation. From my understanding, the last coach quit with very little time to find a new coach. The guy hired, was at the time the JV baseball coach. He was a former Fort player and played college ball at Bluefield. So some football knowledge, but not sure of coaching abilities. He had to come in and put together a whole new coaching staff on short time prep, and is maybe trying all new offense and defensive packages, it should and will take time. This season, I'm sure he's on a learning curve. That's a good community that will support that program big time.
