HUGE difference between mathematically and realistically, but these are the only teams mathematically eliminated from the 2025 playoffs.

2D - Marion

1D -  Castlewood and Twin Valley

Any teams to add to this after last night?

For 1C East Mont, Bland, and Galax. I would add Fort Chiswell however if they upset Grayson and Bath loses to Narrows then maybe they have a chance at jumping Bath for 8 seed. But as long as Grayson walks out of the locker room they’re not losing to Fort.

Yes. Quite a few. I'm just waiting for Va High/Lebanon Monday and I'll post updated PPs and the last scenarios.

Thanks for the work you put in on this.  One request, when you put the scenarios together this week, can you add one with TS over RC?  Thanks.

Ill be interested to see how Armstrong fares come playoff time on the other side of the state.  Some folks down that way,  already anointing them State Champs...

Haven't played anyone. Jury is out on them.

Yeah.  Ive watched a little bit of their games.  They are fast and athletic.  I dont think their lineplay will matchup with the likes of Union, Graham or even Glenvar.  I guess we will see.  Folks in the Richmond area are certainly high on them.  Perhaps them dropping from 3A to 2A has some folks a little overly confident.   I guess we will see.

If they can beat Poquoson and Strasburg snd represent the East, they’ll have answered the questions about their LOS capabilities and both those schools are very good up front.

Armstrong is legit. They are on par with Union, Glenvar, Graham. Their schedule hasn't been overly strong, but its not as weak as Glenvars either. Their defense is lights out and they are big and athletic. Poquoson will give them problems though. Poqouson plays a schedule pretty much 8 out of 10 games against speed and athleticism every year and they are use to speed. The teams that have given Poquoson trouble are actually run first teams (Riverheads, Strasburg).

I would take Armstrong over Poquoson, but close and no surprise if Poquoson beat them. Strasburg has improved, but I dont think they are as good as last year and dont think they beat the Armstrong/Poquoson winner. Also, Thomas Jefferson of Richmond in game 2 of the playoffs could possibly clip Poquoson or Armstrong in the game prior to the region title. Armstrong beat them 21-14 in regular season.

Whether its Union, Glenvar, or Graham from the west, the team they will face from the East in Salem will be better than what the East brought to the state title gsme last year and it will be a very difficult game for the West. It will be a very close game I think.

I think this December in Salem will be a lot closer than in recent years whichever teams end up there unless something totally crazy happens.

Im not convinced that Armstrongs lineplay will match up.  Just going by the eye test.  They are certainly fast and athletic.  The playoffs will be very telling for them.  But., yes I would expect a good matchup in the finals.

The championship may hinge on the line of scrimmage so if they make it to Salem, they need to shore up that line. Graham’s D-line gave Strasburg all they wanted last year & more. It’s hard to beat a superior defense come playoff time.

Which is exactly why if it is Union or Graham who comes out of Region D,I favor them. I'm not sure even Glenvar who seems more physical than the rest up that way can block either of us. Folks on Glenvar's FB page are saying that Union can't cover them or run on them. I hope that arrogance continues when the Region D champ no matter who it is shows up:)

Arrogance has cost many a team a win & a championship. Give me a Union or Graham defense any day. Not many teams are used to that kind of physicality. I’ll be pulling for region D regardless of who comes out on top.

Also, something to be said for strength of schedule. I see those schedules and the W-L records and it's pathetic. Granted Central,Lee,and Battle have losing records, but we played a 3-game stretch last month vs 3 very stout teams. Their combined record was 18-1. You can't tell me that this Union squad team isn't battle-tested. Nobody up north can say that. Region C is way down and Glenvar hasn't been tested:)

Well, Galax will be replaced with Southern Gap next year for Graham....

I know some of the middle school comments went a little off the rails, but seeing that Southern Gap beat Bluefield Middle makes me think that group is legit and will be a good trade for Graham at least for for that class, but may not be sustainable long term. Time will tell, though.
