Time will tell, though. Anything would be better then Galax right now, for any of their opponents, hate to say it. If a 2A team plays a 1A team - they get 2 additional points for playing 1 division down (so it's basically the same as playing a 2A team). Best bet, if you're going to play a 1A team is to play a 1A team that will get a few wins and some more rider points. Hopefully Southern Gap will be a good caliber team for the long haul and raise the standard of play overall in the SWD. I think Richlands is heading in the right direction. V-High and Lebanon have taken some steps in the right direction. I do believe, if Tazewell gives the new coach some time and let him do his thing, they will get better. Marion has a long, long way to go. tornado99 and Gridiron60 2 Quote

I’m hoping it has Graham and Union on collision course the week before facing Glenvar ( not excluding Gretna) because whichever one it is after this slobberknocker , i. Would be surprised if Glenvar has played a game this physical Quote

I'm not sure even Glenvar who seems more physical than the rest up that way can block either of us. Folks on Glenvar's FB page are saying that Union can't cover them or run on them. I hope that arrogance continues when the Region D champ no matter who it is shows up:) Hard to complete a pass when the quarterback is on his back. S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Watched gretna vs appo, one of them may reach a region title game but that's about as far as they should go. 2c not real strong collectively. Glenvar looks to be the best coached at the moment, but not the best match up for 2d. 2a/2b are a little more versed in the physical aspect of the game and match up better. Said that last season about Strasburg, they didn't match up well and got beat physically on both sides of the ball, so who knows. Quote

The game they had with Graham last year was a 4 point game and I'm pretty sure that was the closest game of the year for Graham. This Glenvar team seems like an improvement from the team of last season in all 3 phases of the game, not to mention having a D1 committed QB and the state record holder in passing TDs. I think they will definitely challenge whichever Region D winner emerges. Pickett 1 Quote

Glenvar was second closest but I think they gave Graham their best game of the season when you consider all phases of the game. I also think Glenvar is better this year than last and Dawyot is on a mission. Every interview I’ve read or seen he mentions winning state championship this year. I think they’ll be a hard out for whomever comes from D. Quote
S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Not hating, nobody said they're not good. The best in region c, yep more than likely. In contention for regional often. They've not mixed it up with 2D in nearly 10 years other than Grahamplay season (Richlands16), but they're good at what they do. It'll be a battle regardless. Quote

Yeah glenvar is good...one of the best coached teams in the state and people think they arent physical are crazy...they had chances to beat Graham last year but Graham just made a couple more plays than glenvar....glenvar can beat either Graham or union but any matchup should be a heck of a game S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE 1 Quote

They didn't get the Graham defense best that Union did. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

Fairlawncat Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 I think Glenvar is better athletically this year and the booming scoring margins suggest it. I do not think they are as good on the line of scrimmage and the majority of their schedule this year, most of the teams aren't as good. Glenvar is facing a bad matchup with Union or Graham on the LOS. The difference was not as great last year, but its greater this year. They are one of the best coached teams in Class 2 VA, and have been so for a long time, as Clifford is Elite. Could be wrong and Glenvar might run Union or Graham out of the gym, but I think the matchup favors Union playing at Union and in the cold. Hosting Graham, I think the matchup favors Glenvar as Grahams offensive line doesnt have the separation they had last year. I also dont think Glenvar this year, on the LOS is as physical as Union, Graham or Armstrong or Poquoson. That doesnt mean they aren't a better team though. They might be. S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE 1 Quote

Who all has to lose their C playoffs to get us a theoretical semifinal home game?? Just from taking a quick glance I would say Glenvar and Gretna will both outpoint GC even if Gretna loses to Altavista on Friday. Floyd won’t beat Glenvar and Radford won’t get close enough in points. Quote
