1inStripes Posted November 6 Report Posted November 6 No. RR is getting more rider points already than Grundy and a win over Central just isn't that lucrative. Quote
BobSmith Posted November 6 Report Posted November 6 Grundy still has the possibility mathematically. They need to win (obviously), RR to lose and then hope for wins from Riverview (+2 points) and some combination of Ridgeview, Honaker, Richlands, Tazewell, Rye Cove and Giles (all +1 points). They also need to root for Northwood and Chilhowie as that takes possible points from RR as well. Longshot, but not impossible. A few other games matter, but they ain't gonna happen, so no need to mention them. Others can probably verify this as I just did it quickly and there could be a mistake. VHSLhelper 1 Quote

Grundy would need to beat Central. Giles over GW, Tazewell over Lebanon, River View, WV over Tolsia, WV, Honaker over RR, Chilhowie over Holston, Northwood over PH, Grayson over Ft. Chiswell, and PM over East Mont. It's possible, but very unlikely that all these events fall into place. Rank Team Record Total Points Rating 01.) Eastside 10-0 244 24.4 02.) BobSmith Posted November 6 Report Posted November 6 They also can get +2 from Hurley beating Twin Valley which is pretty close to being guaranteed I think. Quote

Grundy defeated both Hurley and TV, so they'll get 2 pts either way. Worst thing about district games when you beat both opponents. The opponents' games are 2 pts either way. No more no less. That's why I wish Union could schedule more TN teams. Each time they schedule other 2D teams, they just beat up on each other. No way to separate in tight ratings. Quote

Without the multiple turnovers in Grayson territory Giles should have beaten Grayson by 2 tds in my opinion. Quote

I would agree that GW is the favorite, but not enough for a sure victory. Either one winning would not be a surprise, but I do think Giles' overall season performance has been a surprise, and one that most people have welcomed. This has been a very competitive season in the coverage area. Several unexpected results in performance and victories. Looks like if Giles loses to GW and Grayson wins also then Giles is 4 seed and in most scenarios would get Narrows at home for 1st round playoffs? Hokiebird7 1 Quote
