Real Sasquatch Posted October 26 Report Posted October 26 It's almost time for basketball already. What's the outlook for each team? Tazewell should be improved, but I think Graham will still be the favorite along with Lebanon in the SWD. Quote
Observer Posted October 27 Report Posted October 27 Central should take boys and girls in 2D, but wouldn't be surprised to see Gate City make a little noise on the boys side. Quote

The region should come down to central Graham and Lebanon. Lebanon has the best player in the area along with a bunch of athletic underclassmen from a jv team that went 19-1 (only loss was to a Sullivan east team with seniors, also beat them once). Graham has the best shooter is 2d in Dissibio. SWD POTY should come down between him and Reece. Martin will be a treat to watch in the next couple of years. Central picked up the best coach in the area and that could be the difference maker between them winning the region and not. Hayes will be back but I don’t know exactly how healthy he will be. One of their role players was also hurt in the offseason. If they can get them fully healthy they should slightly be the favorites for the region. Gate City and Union both have solid chances to upset one of these three teams as well Quote

Reece is a very good player for Lebanon, but I don't know if I would say he's the best. He definitely benefits from having the ball in his hands 90% of the time. Quote

Top 3 has to be Reece Hayes and Bostic/Dissibio. Out of all those players Reece is the most impactful. Reece has the size, footwork, rebounding, shooting, and shot altering ability. Those other guys have some of those abilities just not all of them. Quote
Bball_Fan Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 Just found out that Hayes has been fully released and is 100% back!!! I know he has been doing some skill work, ball handling and lifting with the team for about a month!!! Quote
1inStripes Posted October 29 Report Posted October 29 The Cumberland is going to be really interesting this year. TS returns who I thought was the best player in the district last year in Clay Ross and added two foreign exchange students who will help with size and depth. Eastside has a sharpshooter in Chase Williams and a lot of kids who like to play fast. Will be interesting how much continuity with the new coach replacing Damron as he played for Damron and has coached under him for quite a few years. Burton will be very young I believe but have some good talent coming up and Frazier always has his troops prepared. Castlewood returns quite a few. Scrappy bunch. Thomas Walker is a bit more of a mystery to me. RC has a good young talent and if Roach-Hodge plays along with Luke Jessee have the ability to score the ball. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted October 31 Report Posted October 31 Best player in D, if healthy, is the kid from Wise. Quote

Lebanon's JV was very impressive last year. If they can adjust to the size and speed on the varsity varsity level Lebanon will be dangerous. I would be hesitant to pick them above Wise, Gate City, or Graham though. Quote

Graham has to replace Graham and Ray. I think the only jv player that will be effective is Martin. If Dissibio is having an off night shooting they are very beatable. Gate City has a bunch of solid players in Carpenter Reed and Jenkins but not exactly a “star player” just a bunch of really solid guys. Central lost Collins but they also picked up the best coach in the region. In terms of what each team has lost vs. what they gain, Lebanon gained a whole lot more than what they lost. Quote

Martin played varsity as a freshman last year, he and Dissibbio will both be hard to deal with. Graham will also have some size underneath, as a couple of kids with height are supposedly coming out that haven't played in a couple years. Cassius Johnson and Garrett Palmer will be freshmen that may contribute right away as well. Also, Cambel Fix and Gage Palmer return to the starting lineup. Graham will be very good again. Quote

Meant to put varsity instead of JV. Not familiar with the Johnson kid. Fix will help alleviate the stress put on Dissibio and Martin as long as he’s 100 percents. Palmer is more of just a defender. I meant Graham will still be very good but It will be far tougher for them to make it out of region this year Quote
Clippers#1 Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM Report Posted Sunday at 08:17 PM Ph and Chilhowie will be top 2 teams in the Hogo. Ts and Eastside will be top 2 in Cumberland. Grundy will win black diamond ... Quote
