The 2025 TSSAA Playoff start this Friday, November 7th, 2025! This is the first year for the new Pod System (this was instituted by the TSSAA at the request of the TFCA to spice up early round games and push games against regional opponents to later in the playoffs). There are some very good first round games throughout the bracket, but still a bunch of duds too. The 4A Bracket is insane and with Anderson County beating Alcoa this past Friday, it proves the mighty Alcoa can be beat, rumor on the street is that both Greeneville and Elizabethton along with a few other schools will petition the TSSAA to move to 5A, starting next year, to avoid Alcoa so stay tuned. There are 58 teams with losing records and two 0 win teams in the playoffs 0-10 Red boiling Springs and 0-8 Chattanooga Grace. There are just 13 teams across all 9 classes are undefeated! Get out and enjoy the games, especially if your "local" team is on a bye this week, the kids will appreciate it and the TSSAA needs the money!!! LOfreakingL!

Here are the region 1 teams playing the week.

Region 1: 1A. Rockwood (6-4) travels to Hampton (9-1), Cloudland (5-5) travels to Coalfield (8-2), Oliver Springs (6-4) travels to Belton to play North Greene (6-4) and Cosby (6-4) travels to Midway (7-3)

Region 1: 2A. Tellico Plains (5-5) is at Happy Valley (10-0), Cumberland Gap (3-7) goes to Eagleton (7-3), Polk County (5-5) visits South Greene (7-3) and West Greene (1-9) goes to Onieda (5-5)

Region 1: 3A. Kingston (6-3) goes to Gatlinburg Pittman (10-0), Johnson County (3-7) travels to Miegs County (9-1), Sweetwater (6-4) is at Unicoi County (8-2) and Pigeon Forge (4-6) travels to  McMinn Central (7-3)

Region 1: 4A. Knox Carter (3-7) @ Greeneville (9-1), Volunteer (7-3) travels to Anderson County (7-2), Gibbs (8-2) visits Elizabethton (8-2) and Cherokee travels to Alcoa (9-1)

Region 1: 5A. Knox West (4-6) visits Sevier County (9-1), Morristown West (3-7) goes to Powell (8-1), Knox Halls (5-4) visits Tennessee High (6-4) and David Crockett (4-6) is on the road at Knox Central (8-2)

Region 1: 6A. Farragut (3-7) @ Dobyns Bennett (9-1), West Ridge (6-4) @ Maryville (9-1), Bradley Central (7-3) @ Jefferson County (8-2) and Science Hill (7-3) goes to Oak Ridge (9-1).

Enjoy!

Enjoy!

I went to the Dobyns-Bennett/Science Hill game on friday and I was shocked about what I seen, DB had right at 50 players and Science Hill were in the 40's, both schools with around 2500 kids. I remember when DB use to be in the 90's just a few years back.

Anderson County is already good as is but they got 11 transfer from Bearden when Bearden coach got busted something to do with taking money from boosters. AC freshman QB is the real deal. I'm also loving this new playoff format and Lord Willing in 2 weeks I'm thinking about going to Riverdale vs Maryville if both teams win, that's a state championship worthy match in the 2nd round

Think it is supposed to be Happy Valley for 2A playing Tellico Plains.

Thanks I corrected it.

The Anderson County QB, just returned from injury Friday in time to beat Alcoa, his name is JD Gillum and is the number 1 QB in his class in high school football. Tennessee has three great high school QB's this year, Gillum at AC, Simpson at Westview and Jared Curtis at Nashville Christian who is committed to Georgia.

Yes sir they do, the Simpson kid at Westview man he's good, his brother is the front runner to win the Heisman for Alabama (Ty Simpson) and I think Graham is already breaking Ty Simpson records he held at Westview

The QB at Sevier County is a 4-Star I think too. Cooper Newman

Simpson has QB camped at Tennessee every year since 8th grade and Tennessee has not offered him a scholarship yet?

North Greene is in Baileyton.

And it's DaviD Crockett.

Can't expect to type that much and miss a word or two.

The local's in Greene County call it Belton, I don't know why, but they do. I used to play a lot of golf at Baileyton!

I worked with six people from Belton over the years. All good people, including one that I count as one of my best friends.

Thanks for posting. I don't really see any possible upsets there, unless Dobyns-Bennett vomits on themselves as they have in the past, but I'd be surprised if that happened. I could see Halls beating THS, but wouldn't really consider it an upset.

I enjoy keeping up with the brackets, the 4A bracket is loaded, there are going to be some really good football teams at home after Round 2.

Can anyone beat Alcoa tho? That 4A bracket is insane. I think there are 4-5 schools that could win that title.

Yes. Technically it’s Baileyton but typically pronounced Belton. The Bailey family after which the town is named actually feels insulted if you don’t say Belton.

We’re hosting one at the Tundra for the second year in a row! Let’s go Huskies!

Anderson Co did last week.

I saw it the other way, someone has had it backwards.  Then it’s absolutely wide open, and those teams are every bit as good as some of the higher classification teams. Would it shock you to see any of the teams hosting round one to win it all?

4A seems to be where the football is in TN.

The talent is in JC to be a powerhouse. I saw on a board a year ago that Science Hill has a special ability to waste talent.

Add DB to that list too. Two schools with 2400 kids should be going deep in the playoffs every year.

Nobody does less with more than those two.

There's a difference between having athletes and football players.

Talent everywhere but the desire seems to be lacking.

The only thing I'm upset about this post is I can only like it once, i wish I could like it multiple times, both schools with that many kids should be in the mix every year for a state championship. Dobyns-Bennett has turned into a band school, I counted 11 buses it took to bring the band to Johnson city last week. I think their band is bigger than any d1 schools band, it seemed like it took them an hour to walk in the stadium
