If anyone is interested, I created a map with all the VHSL teams by Class. Let me know if anything needs corrected.

Central HS is listed twice in Class 2.

There are 3 high schools in Class 2 with the official name of Central High School. I will put in parenthesis the town or county name to differentiate.

I submitted Indian Creek High School RedHawks due to the road connecting Wise and Pound, but no good ol' Wise Co went with generic Central knowing there's 1000 Central's in the US. If that wasn't bad enough, they slapped green paint on an old school and called it Eastside which sounds like we should be throwing up gang signs.

Indian Creek would've been great, but they made the same mistake Dickenson County did by letting the kids make the decision.

I am suspicious of that man. I have a hard time believing the kids would go that generic-unless they were given a list of 2-3 hideous choices and chose the lesser of evils. Kids today are all about expression and individuality-not vanilla/basic/generic.

I've said this before, but I can 100% certify that students chose names, mascots and colors in Wise Co.

I won't go through the whole process again, but they did make the final decisions.

Guidance was given by administration, but only to point out repercussions of certain choices.

Finalists for Union were Heritage, Stone Mountain and Lonesome Pine among others.

It was pointed out that there were several Heritages already.

I personally liked Twin Rivers for Eastside.

I never heard any choices for Central that were much better.

Do you recall if students chose Eagles as the mascot for Southern Gap? I remember some talk on the board about the mascot but don’t recall the process that was used. You can’t get much more generic than Eagles, Southern Gap, I’m good with though.

It is definitely Eagles, although I'm not sure what their selection process was.

Great work! I have already saved tis to my favorites page! The TSSAA has a site map on there website but each school is just a red dot, the slackers at the TSSAA could do much better and this is proof!
