Think Rye Cove had 21.0 and GC had 20.? something power points. 1D winner would host either way I think.

Correct, but Grayson was closer to Rye Cove than GW, if I recall correctly, but Grayson or GW, whoever wins, travels to D, whether its Eastside or Rye Cove. Both schools outpointed GW/Grayson

I believe 1A may have gone back to alternating regional hosts starting this year due to everyone not using the same points system?  Also that all state games must be played on turf now, so while RC/Eastside will host the winner of GW/GC, neither will get to play at home actually.

From VHSL website. "Semi-finals – The higher rated team (based on power rating or pre-determined site) will host.
Class 1 & 2 pairings are Region A champion v. Region B champion; Region C champion v.
Region D champion."

So who has turf near them?

The BOLD part is the key.   Also didnt realize they were crossbracketing some divisions.

UVA Wise, Emory and Henry, Ridgeview or Central HS would be the closest for the 3 in VA.  For RC the closest is probably DB.

No way the VHSL will allow a state semifinal game to be played out of state lol

They allowed them at Mitchell Stadium for years. As long as they get their cut, they’ll allow them on Mars.

I wonder if they only allowed that because that's where Graham played their home games....

They need to have the teams playing on grass. The “safety” argument for artificial turf no longer holds up.  As long as a field is in decent shape it’s fine, even if it rains, etc. It’s not like it just rains on one team.  I’m yet to see in any rule book where it states that football should only be played in optimal conditions anyway.  The elements make for some of the most memorable games ever played.. Why take that away?
