44cov3 Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 Glenvar by 2+ tds, after watching Ridgeview WR run open and not complete passes and the 1 dimensional offense Union runs….wont happen vs Glenvar. I’ll take them by 14 because it’s at bullet; if at Glenvar more. Quote
nrv_football Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 I honestly do not know who to pick. I have watched both play and cannot favor one over the other. It will be close and could go either way. I have Glenvar by 6 but Union can easily win by 6 as well. So 50/50 Quote
Gridiron60 Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 Glenvar’s main job is to stop Chandler & seal the edges in case Bostic takes off. Union’s defense needs to get pressure on Dawyot and not allow him time to throw. He can sling it and he’s accurate unlike Union’s other opponents these past two weeks. It should be an epic battle of run vs pass and which defense can limit the other’s plays. Reece got almost 300 yards passing against Union, Dawyot is capable of just as much if not more. Union’s pass defense will be well tested for sure in this match up but I think Union is better on the LOS. No prediction but I do hope Union can pull the win. I’d like to see Region D back to back state champs! frito gonzales, S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE and jeffro 3 Quote
S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 Will be an epic match up i believe. I still believe C as a whole isn't as physical as D. Glenvar is still a good team and will be a tough match up for anyone. You're in the final 4, they're all tough. Probably more balanced and attack where they think they can win. It'll be a fun one to watch. First opponent union hasn't already played once this season, so it'll be a little different outlook as well, but still tough. Quote
Unchained Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 Union ground and pound keep away and win it 28-21. Quote
BigWinners Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 I think too many people are severely underrating RV. They were 11-2 with two losses to the 2D champ. They knew how to prepare for Union better than anyone else, they’re extremely physical with a college RB and two more dynamic playmakers. S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE, Unchained and CriticalNoise 3 Quote

Just because Glenvar almost beat them in the Region Championship game most people on here said that Radford wouldn’t be able to handle Graham. What people didn’t realize is they’re district rivals and Glenvar has one of the best coaching staffs in 2A so of course it was a different ball game the second time they played. The atmosphere at Bullet will be something Glenvar hasn’t witnessed in many years and that’s why I’m giving Union the edge 35-31 RadCat and BigWinners 2 Quote

Glenvar has the stingiest defense in all of 2A yielding 3.8 pts a game...all of that is to say there is 0% Union scores 35 on them, but a very good chance Glenvar gets the 31 you mention. Quote
CriticalNoise Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Just what little I’ve watched, their line play is weaker. May force doowhat to throw under pressure. the atmosphere at the park is something they haven’t experienced and I expect it to be even louder next week. Quote

Union hasn’t allowed 30+ points since Science Hill in 2024 and hasn’t to a VA team since the 2D final against Graham in 2023. Unchained 1 Quote

I didn't say Glenvar wouldn't give up more than 3....but that offense i saw today I would literally liquidate everything I own and bet on glenvar holding union under 35. Realistically, union likely to be held to 14 or less...if things go really badly for Glenvar and good for union I could see 21...but not a pt more. Glenvars defense is elite Quote

Glenvars defense is elite No I didn’t, I pointed out it’s silly to say there’s no way Union gets to 30+ bc of the Glenvar average abd then say it’s very likely Glenvar gets to 30+ despite Union only allowing 9ppg and hasn’t allowed a VA team to get to 30 in the same amount of time that Glenvar has held everyone under 30. Unions defense is also elite, that was my point. You’re very confident that Glenvars defense holds up but seem to believe Unions will just fall apart. Unchained 1 Quote
Westisthebest Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Unions style will slow the game down. But as poster said, glenvars defense looks legit how they fly to the ball. Gretna might not have been great overall, but they had a very good offense and got held to 6. If union can eat up small yardage at a time and get some chunk plays here and there, it could be a low scoring game. But from what ive seen, I think glenvars defense holds, hope I'm wrong. But I say glenvar 28-13 Quote
memorex Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I see some missed Xtra points. Glenvar 27 Union 13 Quote
tornado99 Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I’m mixing Westisbest’s analysis (my thinking) with faith and hope that Fairlawncat and the Union faithful are correct in Union’s ability to pass more than was shown recently and rooting for the Bears. I’m barely going with hope. Union 27-24. Quote

Fairlawncat Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Calpreps (hsratings) is doing the same thing for this game as it is for the other Class 2 game in the East and I've never seen this with Calpreps before, but it's happening twice in the same week. The game is too close to call. Calpreps predicts Union 20-19 if played in the regular season on a neutral field. Its predicting Glenvar 20-19 if played in the playoffs on a neutral field. Like the game in the East, its the playoffs, but the game is not on a neutral field. Its on Unions home field. So, looks like the East in that Calpreps predicts the matchup and number crunching appear dead even. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Lastly, Calpreps is predicting as of this morning (Sunday) the East, both Strasburg and Poquoson as 4 point winners 21-17 over both Glenvar and Union if games were played today. To kind of sum up Calpreps predictions. Union vs Glenvar and Strasburg vs Poquoson are about dead even and both toss up games, and predicts the East (Strasburg and Poquoson) as barely, by a hair-4 points, as favored over the West. My take away from all of this.....its completely up in the air and all 4 teams can win it and its not an upset or surprise for any of the 4 remaining teams to win it or to get beat. All 4 teams are neck and neck. I also think it looks that way just going by the eyeball test and watching all 4. Quote
