Hokiebird7 Posted November 30, 2025 Report Posted November 30, 2025 I think this is gonna be a good one...both teams are very good on both sides of the ball. I think a key turnover/big penalty could be the difference in the game If i had to pick a winner I'll go Glenvar 16 Union 14 But it could easily be the opposite Fairlawncat 1 Quote

Hate it for that young man, prayers for him. Injuries are tough but especially in playoffs for a Senior. Quote

Glenvar has the stingiest defense in all of 2A yielding 3.8 pts a game...all of that is to say there is 0% Union scores 35 on them, but a very good chance Glenvar gets the 31 you mention. Just going to throw some stats out for those calling Union 1-dimensional. Entering the RV game QB Kam Bostic had thrown for 1,323 yards and 19 TDs. He added to that yesterday For a power run team, this isn't too shabby. Entering the game yesterday, RB Keith Chandler had 1,631 yards and 29 TDS. Obviously, he added a considerable amount to that yesterday. For all the talk about how potent the Glenvar offense is, ours isn't exactly stagnant. Another thing that I found impressive is and we have to count playing Lee, Graham and RV 2x. 9 out of the 13 opponents the Bears have played made the playoffs. I'd doubt any team in the state could make that claim, so folks can say SOS will not matter, but I am telling you if this is close in the 2nd half, Union will win this game We have ran some serious gauntlets twice this year. In October with RV,GC,Lebanon and 3A playoff team Abingdon in a row and now getting through the nasty Graham,RV combo. This team is built to go to war. Gridiron60 and Fairlawncat 2 Quote

They were 11-2 with two losses to the 2D champ. They knew how to prepare for Union better than anyone else, they’re extremely physical with a college RB and two more dynamic playmakers. I don't think many people were underrating RV. People knew they could be up and down and u never knew wat u would get with them. I think some people are underrating glenvar cuz of their schedule, and rightfully so. But if u watch the tape on them, that's when I become worried. Gretnas offense was no slouch. I'm hoping union can slow the game down and get 3 to 4 yards a play and occasionally rip off the big one. Get pressure on dawyot and they can win it Quote

Well it appears you're right and they're not one dimensional. Where did he pick up most of those yds? Cuz the games ive watched, about 6 or so, are usually 1 or 2 hitches to anderson. Well he did hit the vertical yesterday for about 60. It seems that they can definitely throw the ball...might have to change my prediction. Would've never guessed they thrown for that much. Unless those are career numbers and not this year Quote

Widespread_Panic Posted November 30, 2025 Report Posted November 30, 2025 Not real impressed with Glenvar's strength of schedule. Their best win is either Northside or Carroll County and neither of those teams are finishing in the top three of the Mountain District. It will be interesting to see if they can stop old school smash mouth LPD style football. Union has already shown they can defeat a pass heavy team that relies on a great quarterback when they beat Lebanon. I'll take Union by 14 points. Unchained 1 Quote

Ttitans2020 Posted November 30, 2025 Report Posted November 30, 2025 After watching Glenvar on tape. They are a great football team.. But can they block Anderson and Polier? I haven’t seen it yet if they can.. Also Union has Chandler who’s a dawg and Bostic who can turn football into a track meet! It’s going to be an exciting game to watch. I think this game will be two different types of football being played with Union being a smash mouth in your face team and Glenvar being more of a finesse. I pick by Union by 7+. I fell like this Union team has a chip on their shoulder and eager to prove to world “literally “ they are deserving of a title. I can’t wait for Saturday Quote

Yeh but everyone knew that the trenches didn't match up and that was really the difference. Even tho union still might have the advantage there i don't see it being a big difference as it was with Lebanon. Could be a great game and hoping it will be Quote

I can’t wait for Saturday I see this matchup much like Graham’s with Glenvar last year. It was a dogfight the entire game. If Union is only down by a score on the 4th, I’d favor them especially if they have the ball last. Those young men are carrying a lot right now and playing with fire and determination to not let a situation out of their control affect their ultimate goal, that elusive state championship. But if I was union and won the coin toss I'd want the ball first. If they can burn up some clock and score, then stop glenvar on their first drive then score again while killing more clock then that might put glenvar in panic mode then union can build on that and it could be mid 2nd quarter by then. Passing teams can panic when they get down multiple scores with teams that chew the clock. Quote

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted December 1, 2025 Report Posted December 1, 2025 Union is pretty solid on defense, if they can manage stops on 3rd down, eat the clock and score, it'll be very exciting. Glenvar lives more on the play of #15. They limit him or get to him and rattle him, could be a long afternoon. It'll be a always, win los, turnovers, special teams, advance. Quote

Dawyot drops back so far in the pocket, it is hard to get to him in time. Im not sure Glenvar can stop Union and I think Union gets to Dawyot enough to come out on top. Dawyot is such a competitor, you cant count Glenvar out. They are very well conditioned and coached too. Quote
BigWinners Posted December 1, 2025 Report Posted December 1, 2025 Is it better to drop in zones against Daywott and try and limit the big plays or go tight man and jam the receivers and hope your line gets home? Quote

I’ve seen him make completions in double and triple coverage. That kid can thread even the smallest needle and at great distance. He can’t throw if he’s on his back though. He’s tough. He’ll get back up and give it all he’s got on the next play. Quote
Real Sasquatch Posted December 1, 2025 Report Posted December 1, 2025 Try to get to him as much as possible. He got sacked numerous times against Graham last year, only to get back up and make several good plays. You cant give him any time, he will pick you apart. He can launch that ball....looks like a dang punt when he throws it deep. But he can hit the short routes in stride too. Very dangerous player. He has committed to a D-1 school for a reason. Their defense is very aggressive and you may have success with screens or intermediate passes, in 3rd down situations Quote
