He's not on the level of Glenvar's QB, but I think Union's QB is very very good...he doesn't seem to be talked about much, but he seems to be a legit offensive threat and weapon that will need to be accounted for.

Bostic is a legit threat. He can throw pretty well not Dawyot well but well enough and he has speed to burn.

If I'm Union I'm throwing on the first and second play of the game.  You know Glenvar is going to be selling out on the run.

Union not being one dimensional is going to be a big plus for them.  Can't make a pick here.  I'm be officiating a track meet at LU but will pay attention to my phone after 2:00 in between flights.

Yes he’s talented but he also benefits from having the best line in the state and having the least amount of guys dropping back in coverage to sell out and try to stop the run. Over thanksgiving I’m sure many of us realized it’s not that hard to just stand there and throw in man to man with zero pressure😂. Bostic is still a heck of an athlete and the most athletic on the team

Union has receivers that can be home run hitters for them. They just prefer to keep everything close to the vest. Can’t blame them. They are undefeated and only really in danger of getting beat once.

The only problem with the "close to the vest" is if a team can shut you down and you need that passing game.  Running heavy all year limits the development of that timing needed for that passing game.  I'm not saying it will hurt the Bears but, you get good at what you practice and USE in games.

I'm sure they are preparing to try to be sharp on that a lot this week.

Your opinion is Unions quality of opponents is better...objectively speaking unions schedule was rated .4 better than Glenvars in the power pts which is nothing. Glenvar has faced no real tests because they are capable of blowing everyone out. That's not opinion thats fact.

The biggest fact? We expected a 5A Daniel Boone to be better than 1-9. That killed us schedule wise. We have consistently played 5A-6A teams for years. Not many can say that.

Correction 5A-6A team...not teams...and according to enrollment numbers they are 46 students over being a 3a school in VA, same as Abingdon....also a fact

Correction to your "correction" Teams. Guess you don't know enough about us to know that before playing DB we played 6A Science Hill. We have also played David Crockett as well:). According to sites like Wiki Union has "about" 600 students. I seriously doubt we have 600.

Sorry, this year it's team.  And that team has about the same enrollment as Abingdon so please stop trying to pretend you guys are down there playing Ocean Lakes and Highland Springs when all you really played was an awful version of Abingdon

Yeah the 2x defending state champ Graham is God-awful:). Poor ol' RV at 11-2 with losses to us were terrible too. GC and Lebanon are so bad they'd only finish 2nd in your distric at worse. Yep you are right. we've played nobody:)

You sure jumped off the "how tough our 5A and 6A opponents are" ship awfully quickly

Who does Glenvar play? Sevier County? Greeneville? Dobyns Bennett? Brentwood? Oakland? Ravenwood? Alcoa?

I don’t know what point you are trying to prove.

Technically, Daniel Boone has 1,142 kids, so they are Class 4 according to the VHSL master schedule.

Abingdon comes in at approximately 845, from VHSL adm numbers adjusted for a senior class.

That would be grades 9-12 for both.

That's it. You're good on everything else. Carry on.

Speaking of teams to schedule, I don’t know if Union could make it work schedule wise. But with all the players from Bell county I saw at the game Saturday. They should try to play them sometime.

Who knows what the future holds, but after the trip to Middlesboro and the last one to Letcher, I was told there would be no more KY schools on the schedule.

Choose a roanoke area team,  neutral site, say emory?

Personally, I like that, but I don't see Union giving up the money from a home game.

I wish we could get more TN teams on the schedule. Would love at least 2 per year.

I got back to Alleghany still....as a big factor why I think Union wins close. Alleghany is/was very very similar this year in quality of play compared to last year when they were in our district (Radford and Glenvars district). Alleghany this year was about 7 points not as good this year compared to last year. Glenvar is 7 points better this year compared to last year. Alleghany beat Glenvar last year 34-7. Alleghany left the district this year and did not play Glenvar or Radford.

Alleghanys speed and size Last Year gave Glenvar problems. Union absolutely smashed Alleghany in that scrimmage this year physically. I watched it. It was no contest along the LOS, but again, Glenvar is in my opinion, 7 points better as a team than last year, and Alleghany last year is 7 points better than this years Alleghsny team.

Transitive Theory. I know, transitive theory isn't a good argument and Im not using it to solely predict Union. Im using the style of play and Lineplay as the reason I think Union wins close. I think its a game that has the potential to turn into a smashing along the LOS. Could be wrong and disclaimer, I'm using the words "Last Year" a lot in this post and Last year doesn't count. What does matter some? Union, only a scrimmage, dominated Alleghany this year more than Turner Ashby did when they beat Alleghany in the playoffs a couple of weeks ago. If Union-Alleghany would have been a 4 quarter regular season game, it might have been a 50-7 type game. I know scrimmages dont matter and cosches try different things, but they do matter when you see one team completely obliterate the other on Both sides of the LOS. There was that big of a mismatch on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

Back to predictions for the game, the only way I can pick Union, is because it's at Bullitt Park. I honestly think you could play this game 10 times and each would win 5. Union can't get in a shootout with Glenvar, they have too many athletes and if Union get's behind three scores the game will be over. With all that said I think the Glenvar win 28-26. I hope I am wrong, with the mess Turner has made, the kids deserve better! I will be listening from Orlando, because it is time for good Ole fun family Christmas trip to sunny Central Florida.
